I was wondering if any of you have used a aftermarket O2 sensor to hook up your A/F guages insted of hooking it up to the ECU . I have herd from a lot of my buddies (very experianced motor heads) that you will get a better reading with an O2 sensor.

You already have an oxygen sensor, and the tap from the ECU is just the input from it.

Your buddies may be alluding to what's referred to as a 'wideband' setup. There's a mob in .au that have been selling a wideband kit for a while now; I believe that the Tunerstein folks are importing the kit fully built in the sub-$400 range, which is an excellent deal.
