So im shopping around for AFPR's, and have read ALOT of posts about the Aeromotive piece. It deffinatly seems to be a very popular choice, but the pressure bleeding off thing is a major deal breaker for me. I dont want to have to blurp the starter, or crank the car excessively every time i start the car.

Are there any other AFPRs that actally hold pressure while the car isn't running to solve this?

I know some people say they have problems with the Aeromotive but mine works great it holds pressure with a really slow drop for maybe an hour before it gets to 0.The car always starts up no problem 2-3 seconds max and thats even if it sits for several days. From my experience the Aeromotive has treated me fine.

Mine acts the same way, wil drop to around 21 psi once you shut the car off then slowley drops to 0 psi over an hour or so but I don't have any issues with the car starting. Starts up the same way it always did before the fpr install on the first crank.

Mine is the same, bleeds down to 30psi and after an hour or so it is at 0psi, no starting issues either.

From my testing I am led to believe that it is not a fpr issue, rather it is a non-sealing o-ring when upgrading to an aftermarket fuel pump. When I did my fuel upgrades I twisted the o-ring that came with the Walbro that was loose on the id and snug on the od and had to crank the car longer before it would start. I swapped the o-ring that was tighter on the id and od but not quite tight enough imo on the id. Cranking time diminished to where it was before the upgrade.

The confirmation to this (fuel pump hat o-ring) would be if someone could chime in that has a fp gage installed/used with a stock fp/fpr setup.

Does the factory fp/fpr setup hold pressure indefinatly, or does it bleed down the same as an aftermarket setup?

Oh yea, I still have not had a chance to get behind the wheel or even work on the Eclipse to see if the latest suggestions might help solve my issues.

the factory systems are supposed to hold pressure all the time. when I upgraded to my walboro, it did add an extra crank or two to get started. to see if it is the fuel pump or the regulator, get a set of hose pliers, the kind that can clamp the hose shut. First clamp the return hose off after the regulator(once the car is off, or after you have primed the system). if pressure is lost, then its either the fuel pump or an injector. Next clamp off before the fuel rail. if pressure is lost then, its either the regulator or an injector. You can do both at the same time to see if its a injector bleeding off.

Never thought about clamping off the lines as suggested as far as the bleeding down issue is concerned. Still started fine, so I was not to worried about that issue. When I get a chance to get back to the car I will try this. I still believe that the problem is from the o-ring on the fp, but we will see.

I spoke with a friends dad that has a lot of race car setup expierience on this. Tell me if this makes sence.

The Aeromotive fpr is designed NOT to hold pressure after the car has been left alone. This is because in a racing aplication (which this regulator is designed) it is dangerous to bleed pressure on a hot engine before working on the car.

Wether this is true or not i guess really dosen't matter. But can anybody post about an afpr other than aeromotive that holds pressure? If not, id lean towards the fuel pump theory as well.
