South Hadley,
I was wondering what you guys found to be the most stealthy 1g exhaust. I'm looking for something that is sutble at idle and cruising speeds but also would be able to flow quite a bit of power. I don't know if anything exsists like for dsm's or if I'd be better off going with custom muffler set up

i never found an exhaust system that looked stock. BUT, what you can do, and i almost did, is to go onto vrs's or kteller's website and buy a piping kit.

comes prebent and prewelded with hangers. all you need to do is put on a muffler. a nice muffler i found is on the kteller site. it's a 3" id and dual out's. looks awesome but it's a little pricey.

the whole kteller system with a muffler is around 8or 900. BUT it's all mandrel bent SS and it's the whole turboback. im including the muffler in that 900.

if you want something with a single tip that sounds nice, i'd go for the dejonpowerhouse dp and catback with an oval muffler and the extra bullet muffler option. i personally have the 2 bullet mufflers with a single tip with dp and it cost me less than 500 shipped to my door.

the 2nd bullet muffler with a oval can should be pretty quiet. and their system flows AWESOME. it's not SS and not big on pretty, but it makes real nice power and sounds awesome at idle and wot.

Check the flowmaster website for their 40 series mufflers. They make dual outlet applications that you can use if you want to have a dual tip look.

Doesn't VRS systems have a smaller single tip? I think it looks very stealth. And good price too.

hey, i used a ebay 2g gsx downpipe that open up in the beginning and 2.75" and then becomes 3" about 2" later, so basically a full 3" downpipe off of ebay for $90. then i went to a muffler shop so that they could cut the downpipe in half and reweld it so that it could fit better. then i had them make me the rest of the tubing from the downpipe all the way to the back using 3" pressbends, the nice thing is that the exhaust hardly bends maybe 2 10-15 degree bends. then at the end i put on a very stock looking, and at $65 a very cheap, magnaflow muffler. it is 3" all the way through. the holes on the muffler are located right in tthe middle on one side and on the other side the hole is either on the right or left depending on which way you flip the muffler. now i thought the system was going to loud, but it is really quiet at idle and at full throttle. the exhaust after the downpipe cost me $195 including the muffler and everything. the system does not have a cat. so in total it cost me $285 for a turbo back exhaust. i really like the sound of it when you are cruising and when you floor it. the muffler is also very very stock looking because it looks like a cheap, not shiny, stock muffler.
hope this helps,
later

thanks for the input guys I wasn't necessarily talking about the dual tip mufflers but that would help. I was more reffering to the sound of the exhaust just somehting that wouldn't catch attention from the fuzz when I'm just cruising around ya know.

no cop is going to pull you over unless you're going wot or hauling ass right in front of them. and that would just be stupid to do.

i would HIGHLY reccomend against flowmaster. they aren't straight through mufflers, they're baffled, which is going to hinder flow.

magnaflows sound awesome. and if you wanna quiet things down a lot, get a high flow cat and maybe a resonator. still decent flow, but a quieter/deeper tone.

things are different in each state and depending on where you live too. I live in western mass in an area of mostly small towns where cops don't have much to do other than traffic violations, so they do tag you for exhaust whether or not I'd be going wot by them.

I wouldn't have ever considered flows, although I should stick with a high flow cat for emissions puposes

I'd like to share a story. I have been pulled over from a cop at a stop sign for loud exhaust. At the time I only had the Apexi N1 CATBACK! I was pulling up to the stop sign. Stopped. Pull away slowly and the cop was on the other side of the stop sign came around and pulled me over for loud exhaust. The was the most BS ticket I've gotten. Since then I have decided to go cut-out style. Open downpipe when you want and quiet/stealth when you want. The only downside is you don't have a shiney exhaust muffler hanging at the rear of your car.

Don't get me wrong I think it's kind of a stupid law too when half big rigs and harleys out there drown out most perfeormance exhausts on care but it's still the law so I try to comply with it...sorta:sneaky: but it mass where I live if the exhausts is louder than stock they can tag me

Heres what I have planned: 3" back to a glass pack in the middle somewhere, 3" baack from there to a dual outlet flowmaster muffler with 2" outlets and short pieces of tubing sticking out, so that the original chrome tips can slide over them, and look bone stock too.

see, im in michigan. they don't care much around here. theyll be more apt to give you a ticket if you're speeding if you have loud exhaust, but there isn't noise ordinance against it. nor is there about running catless. heehee.

i have a tsi awd....2.5" o2 back exhaust with no cat and no resonators with a 3" megan racing muffler that is straight thru. its nice just cruising around, interior is pretty quiet even cruising 75 on the highway. city is good too. but at wot its loud and mean as hell. but whatever you do, good luck with it.:thumb:

Pina Motorsports is a local shop here that will build you a 3" mandrel bent stainless exhaust that is nice and quiet, and rumbly, and looks stock. On their website, they call it the 3" sleeper exhaust.

here's a pic

You can also option it up with vband clampy goodness, and other such things. It's a very, very nice piece, but not the cheapest in the world.

I am going to replace the 3" on my galant with one in the future, so that it's a bit quieter, and a bit more tucked up underneath.

there you're lucky I have to be careful out here especially since I'm looking to get into a law enforcement job in the near future, I don't feel like having to explain away tickets for equipment violations.

i can't figure out their site at all. the links on the left won't bring up anything for exhaust. and they've got next to nothing for 1gdsm's.
x2 I selected their company then 90-94 dsm and it showed no products. That is basically what i would be looking for in an exhaust.

an hks would NOT look stock on a 1g. a big 4" tip, no way. all 1g's came with a cool dual tip muffler.

if the pina exhaust doesn't work, here's a link to the kteller muffler i want when my dejon one takes a poop. which peolly won't be for a while. but ya always gotta look ahead.

http://www.kteller.com/store/product_info.php/cPath/23_24/products_id/153

there ya go, magnaflow with beautiful stock looking tips. i really wanna hear what that baby sounds like on a big 3" turboback.

looks like the magnaflow is going to be to the route I go with this since it looks to be the cheapest and they make quality mufflers so it looks like I'll have to fine a good good downpipe and catback then cut off the other muffler and weld the magna on,

any recommendations for the dp guys?

dejonpowerhouse dp and catback. aluminized, 3", all gaskets, all hangers, and clamps. with 2nd bullet muffler option.

shipped to my door was less than 500 bucks. and my mechanic put it up for me for less than 100. good luck finding even JUST a catback for less than 500 let alone the whole system. i know for a fact that the apexi n1 goes for no less than 525-550.

just do the dejon exhaust, it sounds awesome. and it will look good with a dual tip. espically since it's not a super blingy SS 3" pipe.
