Ok, so I finally got the oil feed line tightened properly at the turbo and I go to tighten the fitting at the head. It feels like it's stripping out and then the bolt breaks. I know this bolt and fitting have a special name (dont' know it, I'm retarded) but it's the bolt with a hole in it and a fitting with a tunnel in the middle of the inside for oil to drain down into the turbo. I've called AGP 4 times and no call back. I can't get home for Thanksgiving break if I don't get this bolt. Is this a piece I could find anywhere local or will I have to order it? Your help is appreciated!

Tom

its called a banjo bolt, tell them where it is and make sure you get the right one. its an expensive bolt also, like 10 or 15 bucks without a discount. BTW, go get a cheap set of screw extractors, pound it in the middle and remove it, dont try to dril it out.

Oh no problem on the screw extractors, I got the remainder of the bolt out with my hand. It wasn't in very tight. Give me a national chain, hardware store, or online site where I can order one if you have it. Oh and BTW this is from an aftermarket oil feed line kit. I have a 2g so the oil feed line was not originally attached at the head. Thanks man.

Tom

Ok, then the question is, is it the same?

Tom

Tom,
The bolt we send is the factory mistu bolt. If you broke the bolt but the aluminum threads in the head are OK, you can get another bolt from your local mitsu dealer. I hope you are putting this into the right hole in the head. You should be using the hole that points out toward the passenger side of the head. DO NOT use the hole that points toward the front of the car. That is a pipe thread fitting and is totally wrong for use with a banjo bolt. Also note that the factory spec on that banjo bolt is like 6-8ft/lbs, so if you have to force anything, someting is wrong. BTW were you calling today?

I am using the proper hole. I will go ahead and get a new one at the dealer Monday then.

Tom

why would you want to take low pressure oil from there, its better getting it from the stock 2g oil port?

I'm just going by the tried and true upgrade path. Straying from the beaten path can equal thorns and poison ivy to the inexperienced like myself.

Tom

right, so you would stray away from the oil scource designed origally by mitsu which is on the oils filter housing for 2 g , and its a well known upgrade on a 1g as used by RRE and many others, i cringe when i think of my turbo getting that low of a pressure, from 10 low-50psi MAX. and its hot from being run through the block, where as the 2g comes right off, filtered and cooled by the water housing.oil psi at the housing is 30@idle to 115@6500+.

I have a really hard time understanding why having the feed below its entrance to the turbo would be beneficial. Gravity would be against you on that. When modifying my car I trust what has been done in the past and the suggestions of DSM veterans such as those at AGP.

Tom

ever hear of oil pressure, its not gravity fed. the damn OEM feed line comes from that point. goto buschur, road race, or just about anyother and look for the kit, it puts a plug in the stock 1g location (the one your trying to use) and uses the oil from the stock 2g location. ive been doing these cars at dealers and on my own time, built alot of very quick ones too, but just because you dont see "wiseass" in my title dont mean im a newbie. ive tried many different things, and this one has made me feel much safer, more oil pressure, and its cooler, go look at some more sites, dont trust just one.

Well thats cool you can get the bolt from the dealer ...sure hope the oil hole isnt messed up if so you may have to re tap it.

if you ever look at pics of Buschur's 2G RWD, you'll see that he's using a stainless steel braided line to draw oil from the stock 1G location to feed oil to that huge turbo......

the bearings of some turbos are not designed to be subjected to such high oil pressure. the seals blow, or something. maybe the AGP turbo is one of them.

in the 14b on the 1g when you remove the screw for the oil feed, the hole is very restricted in size, no doubt in part to restrict oil. on 2g the oil restriction is at the oil housing as part of a screw on adapter thats is there from the factory. i have used it with my 14b and turbonetics t60-1, ete32 and ete52, with absolutly no problems.

quote from RRE:

"Allows full oil flow with high pressure, cool oil to your Mitsubishi Turbo. Works especially well with a 16-G on a '95 and up Eclipse. Will work on any 1G or 2G with a Mitsubishi turbo. Not for use with T-25s or T-28s."

so it obviously may have problems with some turbos.

Tom Sawyer I had the same prob with my T28 Killer cause it still uses the stock t25 housing the bolt that comes with the SS line kit wil NOT fit it will NEVER fit you will keep stipping the threads off the bolts. If you look at the bolt and then compare it to how much room you have in the hole on your turbo you'll see that the bolt would go in way too deep. For the solution go to My thread

Hope it helps, any more probs just PM me. :thumb:
