I got a faily stock 95 GSX. I have 131,xxx on the OD. It has been babied since day one. I have a stack of recripts for everything that has been done. I had it checked over for crank walk and no signs at all. The Mitsu tech said its the best taken care of near stock Eclipse he had ever seen. I take that as a compliment since he is a master tech and has been with Mitsubishi since they came to the US. The problem is he doesn't agree with modifying them. I have asked him questions on the below items but he always seems to try and talk me out of them. So here is my dilema. I have minor mods and want more power, sick of the hair dryer of a turbo I am running. Mods are hard inter cooler piping top and bottom w/ a 1G BOV. Manual boost controller and Injen intake. I am not looking for gobbs of power but something more up to date. Here is what I would like to do.
EVO III Exhaust Manifold
EVO III 16G Turbo
EVO III O2 Housing
Upgraded Fuel Pump (Suggestions)
Upgraded Injectors (Suggestions)
FMIC (Suggestions)
I honestly don't want to get into major electronic tuning at this time.
I am on a saving for a house so can't go with the route I want by getting a 6 bolt and building it. I want to do this right the first time without buying used or knock off parts from eBay. Want to start small and see if I get into this. My car has been really reliable and don't want to change that. Any inputs/ suggestions based on experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Thanks Jared but I have already gone thru this. In Stage 1 I have already done steps 1-7 and am questioning on suggestions or recommendation based on experience for steps
8, 9, 10 & 12.

You mention that you don't want to affect the reliability and want to keep money output to a minimum. If that is the case, I would hold off on any modifications. Just wait until you get the money together after the house. All the modifications will invariably cost quite a bit of money. This isn't a criticism, but some friendly advice. I've done pretty much all the mods in the stage two with the exception of the FMIC. The mods that made the car more fun to drive while not impacting the reliabilty:
Intercooler piping
BOV (recirculated)
downpipe
high flow cat
exhaust
short shifter
boost gauge
boost controller
shocks springs.

I hear the Walbro 190lph fuel pupm does not requirs an AFPR so that would be good and at least 550cc inj's, possibly 650's, actually I would go with the 650's as the EVO3 can max the 550's. I also like the MAFT for tuning and extra flow. Simple to use. Mark

Those parts will give you a nice boost in power. For the pump go with the 190 since it sounds like your not looking for huge hp, its good for about 400 and doesn't need an adjustable fpr setup (which would cost an additional ~$250). The problem is as soon as you get injectors you are going to need some way to tune them, either safc & logger combo, dsmlink etc. I would say 550's min but would recommend 650's. If you don't want to get into the injectors/tunning device, get a logger just to make sure your on the safe side and run your evoIII @ 14 psi on a rewired 190 pump, this will still pull alot harder then the t25 and will also continue pulling to redline & not crap out at 4500 like the t25. When you've got some extra cash get your tunning device & injectors. Also I don't think you mentioned it but before you swap the turbo I would look at getting a new exhaust from the turbo back as te stock system is a huge flow restriction.

Edit: Just checked your profile looks like you have a catback but are still running the stock downpipe? Defently get that upgraded.

unless you want to buy another motor, you should get at least a S-AFC or another fuel management system. either that or you could boost very low. :(

Well if he add's the injectors without something to control them he will be running really rich, he'll just get poor performance & fuel economy. He's not really going to hurt the motor unless he's adding so much extra fuel that it washing the cylinder walls. This being said it is still something you don't want to do, if you keep the boost at 14, you can get away without larger injectors, just make sure you have a logger to be sure. :thumb:

95er, no offense but it sounds like you want to have your cake and eat it too. Once you start turning up your boost and changing injectors, your going to start running into money. Not only that but with a 16g turbo, once you start cranking up the boost you will start to waste your stock clutch. I think people can plan it to buy one part at a time and modify that way, but be prepared because one thing leads to another and a $1000 project can turn into a $3000 project.

I agree with daren p I think your best first mod would be a good flowing downpipe.

Definitely get the downpipe upgraded. If you don't want to run any type of tuning device right now, you could get a set of yellow top injectors. I think they are like 500cc (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I ran those with a 16g killer for a long time at 16-17psi and no problems

I'm pretty sure they're 510's... but even so with out a good way to control them - idle, cruise, anything not under boost you'd be rich.. bad gas milage, maybe a little studding or bogging too could be come an issue.

I would do exhaust first, and go from there. i don't know about you guys but that ran me $900ish.. ported mani(free), evoIII O2(ported $225), RRE downpipe($230), Testpipe($50), Buschur cat back($300), hangers gasket, misc about $100..

how much do you have in mind to spend?

OK, sorry I'm an idiot i didn't see that you had exhaust. i have a walbro 255... with reg and all stainless lines. the best way to control fuel for you is DSMLINK.. lucky us we already have 95 ECUs...

i strongly suggest getting management.. no matter what turbo you have - it allows you to get the most out of your setup regardless of what it is... it's not that expensive either.. 600ish shipped.

I actually was not running rich at all my plugs looked perfect. It never stuttered or bogged and gas mileage did change drastically. But it did stop fuel cut from hitting at 18psi. Sure I would still hit fuel cut sooner or later. But occasionally I would get boost creep to 18psi and hit fuel cut until I installed the 510's. I even ran these for a short time on my 50 trim with out any tuning device. It did lean out a little more with the 50 trim, but it was still in the safe zone.

Thanks for all the good advise. For now I think my first route will be to go thru the exhaust system again. Currently running stock downpipe, straight pipe instead of cat, stock from cat back to axle and then a N1 knock off muffler.
95GSXBLUR- currently checkin into running pretty close to your set up on exhaust.
I'm a big fan of buying parts over time and then installing them when I got all of them.
next, Fuel Pump upgrade
I'll get injectors and then hold off until I decide on a SAFC, or DSM link.
I have no idea how much I will spend. I have been dumping money into the car since day one. I'm presently going thru the suspension now. I got new tie rod ends today. various other suspension components and bushing. Wanna get that dialed in first before I start adding power.

once again thanks for all the recommendations. Keep them coming.

Well when it does come time for a tunning device, I would normally recommend Dsmlink anyways but more then likely you will already have an eprom ecu so that will save you a couple hundred. So by the time you get a safc, logger setup & palm, you could sepnd ~$150 more & get Dsmlink which is 1000 times better (and you could run 1000cc injectors if you wanted and it would still run like stock and have perfect timing maps :thumb: ).
