Where is the best pace to mount a external wastegate. I want to be able to route it back to my exhaust for emissions. I was thinking on the exhaust mannifold. Also what is a good external wastegate.

Can't go wrong with Tial. I think they are most peoples choice for not only quality, but also pricing. I saw alot of Mustang guys in the Pro Outlaw classes running HKS ironically enough though. I have mine mounted off my O2 housing. I am sure everyone has they own opinion...I'm not sure how much of an issue it really is. I have no creep whatsoever so I'm satisfied.

i would go with a tial also. where to put it would be personal preference. in my personal opinion the exhaust manifold "buschur stye" set up has a weird not so good sound. the o2 bung sounds a hole lot better. you also need to decide which tial product will be the best for your turbo set up. the cheap way out if you have a smaller turbo would be a 35mm. you can get one for around 225 or 250.

I am going to order the tial 35hp external wastegate, but the main thing that I wanna know is will the hp be more if it is mounted on the exhaust manifold or the o2 housing. I really dont care how it sounds, and i wanna be able to pass emissions.

I have the HKS 40mm and it sounds awsome. I have mine mounted off the manifold. That will take out a lot of boost creep. Off the o2 housing you will get more lag, or atleat it what i have heard.

wastegates are better mounted off the o2 housing. its just like stock and has nothing to do with spool up. wastegates let exhaust out. if one malfuntioned you would spool up faster and boost creep. wastegates off the o2 housing sound better. the theory on wastegates mounted on the o2 housing is that it does not interupt the exhaust gas pulses so there is a more even flow going to the turbo. you dont interupt that pulse wave route which is very delicate with a manifold mounted wastegate. with a manifold wastegate it will interupt the pulse wave to the turbo possibly slowing it down. there is an article about it in Turbo magazine under the burns custom exhaust section. also o2 housing wastegates bleed exhaust gases off all 4 cylinders not just 1 like a manifold mounted wastegate. no matter what external wastegates do not pass emission wither internal or externally dumped. external wastegates are illegal period. you can pass smog but if a cop see's one he will pop you for it hard. easier to hide a o2 housing wastegate than a manifold one. when a cop pops the hood bam its right there on the manifold. on the o2 housing its a lil hidden and it can look stock looking and could pass the cops eye. you could use your 4th amendment and just say no to illegal popping of hoods. that works too until they get a search warrant.

Externally dumped wastegates are loud but under full boost only. you have to be an idoit to fly by a cop under full boost. just pass him at low rpm, low speed, and low throttle and he wont even know. plus o2 housing wastegates sound better. Victory performance makes an internally or externally dumped o2 housing wastemount for 275. extreme also makes them too but i believe its the whole downpipe.

If anyone wants a tial 35mm external wastegate with dumptube i happen to have one laying around. i recently bought a tial 40mm and switched the wastegate to the o2 housing after i learned the above. if anyone is interested in the tial 35mm, pm me and we can work out the deal. the wastegate is going pretty cheap.
