I run an Apexi N1 and like it. Somedays I do not love the attention you get from having a cannon hanging off the rear end. If I would have had more time and patience I would have just built myself a 3'' turbo setup with a dynomax muffler though.
 
Have the AHP 3" With an N1 on it.. sounds great.. flows great.. affordable
 
I have the apexi n1 catback and downpipe. I love it, it sounds good and there is a big difference in power from the stock system.
 
Go to www.optionsautosalon.com for a complete selection of the only exhaust systems that are worth having on your car. Im going with the N1. If your running turbo and your planning on turning up the boost, go with the N1 because is is a true 3" exhaust system. As far as manafold and downpipe, well, port the manafold and get a N1 down pipe. You also need to look at 02 Sensor housings, the EVO 3 Housing is nice and it is reasonably priced, or you can have your stock ported.
 
I am building my own 3" system since the ones out there either suck, or are out of stock. I really like the 2.5" BR turbo back I run now, so I based it on that. I am using a 3" in/out 16" long by 6" round Dynomax Unltraflow Welded. The catback set me back about 140 bucks total ;) Parts came in today, I will be fabbing it up tomorrow. I got a DP from RRE since they could get it to me ASAP, and its only 230 bucks for the "long" version. I think it works out to just over 400 bucks for the turbo back. A little welding never hurt anyone, if it saves a couple bucks especially :D

I eventually plan to use ferrules (band clamp connection, just like turnine housing) so I can swap cat/TP with no tools, and no hassle, leak free. Instead of a regular TP I will be using a Dynomax Bullet racing muffler in 3" in/out configuration because it is only 4" outside diameter. Doesnt do a whole lot of muffling on its own, but will make an outstanding presilencer that is over 3" inside diamter, just like the muffler. Unlike typical louvered core resonators that impede flow. So overall, No appreciable loss in flow, and not obnoxiously loud (I'm getting old). When the cat is in, the presilencer is not in, so it wont be too quiet either.

This is my point, I can do this and have exactly what I want. Not some compromise between shite vendor exhausts, and waiting weeks or months for delivery. Summit ships the parts to me in 2 days ;) But enough rambling...
 
And I should mention that dozens of people are having problems with the N1 flex sections failing. I have lost count of how many people have toldd me this now... But the catbacks seem good, if you dont mind the price.
 
The N1 down pipe is 2.5 inch b4 the flex and 3" after. Not a true 3" pipe Pick up a Pacesetter dp nice piece for under 200 full 3"

I used a Pacesetter exhaust on my Rx7. Real cheap, but I had to replace it every two years. Rusted in 2 weeks despite being painted. Also, you can get a RRE 3" DP for 230 bucks, with or without TP. IMO and IME, the 2.5" to the flex isnt an issue. It does make it much easier to fit the oil filter, and my Deltagates dump tube... Might be a necessity for some poeple.
