Exhaust leak= louder BOV..weird

hey, well I had a (severe) exhaust leak at the downpipe and I have a 1G BOV and when I was driving around I could hear the BOV pretty loudly and it is on recirc too. And last week I finally fixed the exhaust leak and now I cant hear the BOV...at all. Just thought it was interesting and was wondering why this happens. Or, was I just hearing the wastegate, which I doubt, since it was clearly a chirping noise.

Yeah, i had that same prob on my 2g but i was leaking from the dump tube. Mine never chirped cuz i cut it but i had that happen to me too! So i got my apex intake and its the closest thing i could get to it.
