I need opinions. I am looking at a cat-back for my 95 TSI AWD, It has a 14b set at 15 psi for now. My question is, which exhaust would be a better value for me! My goals with the car are to have a DD 13 second car, with good power, and very reliable. I am debating between the VRS 2.5" SS Cat-back, or the VRS 3" Aluminized Steel Cat-back both costing in the neighborhood of $420! Let me here your opinions!! If you think another cat-back is just as good for a price lower then that, let me know! but $420 shipped is about my limit.

If you can get a 3in exhuast for the same as a a 2.5 then go for it.

Can you post a link to these? I have not heard of them before.

I run their 3" aluminized tubing kit with a magnaflow cat and muffler. The piping was well bent, fit perfectly, and included all flanges and hangers. It was definitely worth it since no one around me mandrel bends. I would definitely buy from VRS again.

My other ? is if I get a 3" cat-back and test pipe, will it bolt up to the factory Downpipe?

When I ran my 3" exhaust with my factory downpipe, I used a 2.5" test pipe as a step between the two. The fitment was close. I used high-temp gasket maker, but it still leaked a little.

As for the 3" test pipe fitting the factory downpipe: Look for slotted holes on the test pipe, enabling you to slide the bolts as close as possible. If its close but doesn't quite fit, you could slot the holes on the factory downpipe to fit. It's gonna leak.

Some exhausts neck down to fit factory cat converters, and some downpipes eliminate the cat. My point is, plan your entire exhaust, do the research, then buy.

You'll be smarter than me.

I just spend close to a grand on my exhaust on my GSX. I went with an Extreme Motorsports Downpipe, test pipe, and Thermal R & D cat-back. The system is 3" all the way through. Personally if you could do that i would. It sounds great and looks good as well. If you can't afford to go the full exhaust, I would at least recommend the Thermal cat back. About $100 more than you were looking but well worth it.

you know...an exhaust is an exhaust, as long as it's the same size all the way back. I cannot imagine spending 1K on a simple bent pipe. I got the megan racing 3" downpipe(150$ cheaper now), I connected it to a bosal catback (320$ shipped). The entire system has a 3 stage polish on it, is stainless steel, and a complete 3" all the way back (i did however have to cut the flanges off where they necked down but I simply slid another piece of 3" pipe over them to connect them).

The system was good enough to give me wild boost creep on a ported evoIII 16g, WITH an atmosphere dump. I was creeping to 26+ psi.
My total cost: 450 for 3" turbo back.

What all comes with the tubing kit?
