I bought a used Greddy fmic. It included all the piping and hoses, but no brakets. How can I make some good brakets? I went to the store and made some myself, but it wobbles and the fitment is poor. How many locations should I mount the intercooler to? I only have it mounted in two different locations.

Are you sure it's a Greddy? My friend just picked up an 18r for his 1g and it had two brackets... one on the top and on the bottom welded on. That's wierd that yours doesn't have those. Look in the Gallery and type in "Greddy" and search for pics of the Greddy mounted and follow suit.

They started welding them on on the newer models. Yes... I am sure mine is a greddy. ROFL

Does the hieght on the intercooler have to be exact is my question.

What do you mean by that last question? (does the height of the intercooler have to be exact?) If you mean does the intercooler have to been completely in the opening of the front bumper, then no.

I built the bracket for my FP front mount out of steel strips that I bought from Lowe's. You can find them by the concrete reinforcement stuff. I used strips that were about three foot long, 2-3 inches wide, and about 1/2 inch thick. Just use your judgement on the exact one to use. I just cut it to length, bent it and then drilled holes. It is kind of hard to work with, but once you get it right, the intercooler is not going to go anywhere.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for the reply. That is what I meant. Does the I/C have to be in the exact location the greddy brackets would put it at? Or can it be =/- an inch or two.

No, you don't have to have it in the same exact place. Just try to get as much of the surface are of the intercooler in the opening and that is the best that you can do. You may have a couple of rows that are not going to get airflow to them, but that is alright. That core should be efficient enough to make up for the couple of rows that are not going to get any air flow to them.

I meant to add that I got that steel bracing from lowe's for about 5 bucks, so it isn't that expensive either and that three-four foot peice should be enough to make the brackets plus screw up a couple.

I went to a machine shop and had them make one big thick bracket out of alum. Then had a hole drill pressed in for $5. Had it welded up. Then put it between the one of the two bolts on the transmission brace(i think its called the k member).

I think that you mean the cross member. It's the bracket that runs unde the car and has the front motor mount attached to it. That is a option, can you post a pic of the bracket that you had made?

I was just going to have the intercooler be held on in two places. One on the top middle and one of the bottom middle. Would that be enough?

That would be plenty. Where in Charlotte are you from? I go to UNCC and play soccer there and i don't know anyone with a DSM. Do you know anyone there with DSM'S?
