You are at the point that you are using a SMIM and you don't even know how to put one on? Wow, just wow. WTF

Easy there, killer. He didn't say he was clueless and needs all the help he can get. He just asked for advice and some pics. Relax.

Yeah my car is stock just because I don't feel like putting all the mods in my profile. You are a genius. I've done more work on these cars than you could imagine. (Not saying that's a lot)

Edit: If you've never done something as simple as replacing an intake manifold on a 4g63, I don't see you being at the point that you need a $500 SMIM. But maybe I'm way off base here.

Wow kid do you have something to prove or what?

To the orginal poster is there something more specific you're looking for or just a couple pointers? I'm just like you and I always try to get as much info about my project ahead just to be that more prepared. Much easier then if you get in a tough spot.

I saw in the instruction that he used a 1g throttle body.... Does the stock 2g tb bolt up to the magnus 2g intake manifold?

Maybe he doesn't do his own work on his car, but he wants to give this a shot. We all have to start somewhere, yo... just like you did. I too can take my intake mani off with ease, but being rude about it is uncalled for.

you know thanks a lot guys, i do almost all the work i can to my car myself but when ive never taken off the mani before and the magnus isnt a simple bolt in i wanted to know about certian things like the egr and coolant block offs. and you shouldnt knock someone for trying to learn how to do something or learning how something works thats what it's all about . we cant just learn it all overnight, to those that help thanks alot.

When I did it, I had to take my throttle-body off, fuel rail, all the electrical harnesses, fuel injectors, coil-pack, plug wires... etc. Then, un-bolt three or four from the top, then 3 from underneath with a 14 mil. There's a shield in the way, too. Oh, and taking off the downpipe makes it A LOT easier. Hope that helps at all. It's not bad at all. Just be patient.
Reggie.

You need to fabricate a new S Pipe if you have hard piping. Hope you can weld. I had to anyways.

it is pretty close to impossible to take the stock manifold off the car without the head off...esp with a 2g the engine bay is so crapmed compared to a 1g...lemme know how that goes...because i did a smim on my 1g and i did not even think bout taking the stock im off cause it looks difficult...of course i had a better excuse to take off my head...hks' 272s manley spings and retainers, 1mm os valves and guides... :sneaky: but good luck with it don't listen to people in here half of the people in here have not even broken 14's yet LOL

It's not hard to take the stock one off. The hard part is getting everything secured and such when you have the magnus already on.

I got the BBK throttle body to mate up with the magnus. That was a pain but it works after some patience. I also had to cut my intercooler piping to make it fit since it will sit lower, plus I had to cut and reweld my throttle body elbow to a 90 degree so my battery will still fit. You also have to find a place for the coil pack. I bent the hanger it sits on so that I could mount it on one of my strut bar posts.

Let me know if you need help. I have pictures of when I did it but just follow the tech article like myself.

Take the head off? I hope you're joking. It took me about an hour to take mine off. Take the head off... LOL!

Your joking right? Seriously this is total misinformation I did mine on the car no probs at all 1/2 tops.

Thats my tech article. And as you can see I got the stock 2G mani off no prob. Took me an hour to get it off. THe biggest PITA is the throttle body bolts and getting them out and getting the throttle body off. Should have been 4 studs and a normal throttle body that has a lip on it you can put silicone on to.

Anyway just follow my directions and you'll have no problem.

You have a 16g and already jumped up to a Magnus Manifold. I think you need to slow your roll if you know what I mean. The Manifold will hurt you more than gaining anything with your current setup. People that run SMIMs are running hardcore built engines huge turbos etc. Im not flaming but im sorry your not ready for SMIM if your running a 16g.

are you for real?? how are you gonna say that an intake mani is gonna hurt performance?? more air is always better and before this mani i'm runing about 350 whp so my stock throttle body and intake mani are hurting me right now, cant get enough air in. so explain to me why it will hurt me???

I used a civic batter in my car too. My setup is a Dejoon tool S pipe and the Brode upper IC pipe. I cut 2" off the brode pipe and I cut the TB flange from the s pipe and had to rotate it about 30* and reweld it to bring the s pipe back high enough to mate to the UICP. Took me about 20 mins to get the stock manifold off and about 15-20 install the magnus. Then the S pipe modding etc it takes a bit of fab time.

350whp on your 16g? wheres the dyno sheet?

If your making 350whp right now I do not think your hurting because 350whp on a 16g is a pretty good number.

If your really want to get into an argument put that intake manifold on and report back. Then lets see how it performed.

Wow I need to have you help me with mine next time LOL. I always take 15 minutes just to get that bottom row of bolts off without chewing up my hands too bad.

Either way it can easily be done with the head on the car, and actually you are retarded if you take it off to do this. You can use a 1g or 2g throttle body since they both have the same bolt pattern, however I prefer a 1g because it is larger. Make sure you have new intake manifold gaskets and throttle body gaskets when you do this. I would personally replace the throttle body shaft seals as well just to save some time down the road. Relocating the coilpacks and ignition module is the only "difficult" task, however also not hard. I mounted both of those on the firewall with a custom bracket I made that goes in place of all the vaccum hoses and wiring bullshit thats there. Looks nice and fits perfect but you'll also need longer plug wires. Originally I had the coilpacks mounted on the back of the block where the AC compressor used to sit and that looked very clean as well. The install is pretty straight forwards though and you shouldn't have too many problems. Good luck.

With some nice aggresive cams and high revs you would benefit from it a lot, with stock cams and stock redline gains will be minimal. You definitly won't loose any power though. 350 whp on a 16g seems possible since he has 272s and all other supporting mods. Keep in mind he's fwd as well so his numbers will be a bit higher.

I made 340whp without a front mount on my b16g, i can find the dyno sheet if you think you are so smart and its impossible and thats with just 19psi and translator eclipse95cl. No dont mean to flame but it really pisses me off when people get on here and talk down to the guys runnin 16gs. I havent been back on the dyno since i put my fp fmic on but i guarantee im makin 375whp on 23psi on my b16g
