Blew weld on JM Fab SMIM

Just like the title says. Yesturday i blew a pinhole throught a weld on one of the runners. I havent seen anybody who has blown a weld on the JM Fabrications SMIM yet and was wondering if i am the first. I was at 27 psi on a BR580 when it happened

Yeah bro, I think you're the first on a JM. I know it's been done on a Venom allready..... Sorry about your luck.

I finaly fixed all my boost leaks to and this happened . Its alright though im taking it off today and tomorrow im taking it to a local place to get it welded back up. It is only a very small hole. My car has only run "well" like 2 times this entire summer. O well what else can i expect .

It happens, you have to keep in mind everyone one of the SMIM is done by hand and not machine. I know for a fact he triple checks all of his work and makes sure it will hold up. Things happen though, Im pretty sure Jim would reweld it for you if you send it back to him. It would definately be easier to get it done locally for time issues. You want to make sure no one blows thru the SMIM manifold though and that they are quality welds.

I have a JM, ive seen as much as 30psi and havent blown any welds. If you let him know, id bet hed help with the bill. Hes a great guy, and his work is excellent.

Man dont pull it off, just mix up some JB weld and take a tooth pick and fill in the pin hole

Seriously I've seen people do that on Magnus intake manifolds and it worked fine =)

Yeah i know they are good welds and this stuff just happens. Yeah to save time im just haveing a local guy doing it. He is the metals teacher at my high school and he will do it for nothing so its no big deal.

I did mix up some jb weld last night about about 11 and i did a boost test today and i must not have gotten it all because there is still a very slow leak.

well yeah there would be. itll get out wherever it can. jb weld will work fine on a pinhole and you wont have to worry about weakening the rest of the welds. not to mention the money youll save

Dont jb weld it. Pay the few bucks to have a quick tig weld thrown on it.

I truly am sorry to hear about that, ive sold alot of them and this is only the 2nd one with a weld failure, so I feel they are build very strong. Id be more the happy to repair it for you, or help you out in any way possible... just let me know. Sorry for any incovenience caused.

P.S. Dont JB Weld it, if you decide to get it welded in the future, the JB weld is tough to clean up for a good weld....
