OK..I am about to drop it in (after removing a broken exhaust stud..any ideas on that...yes it broke off up inside there) the 95 Talon Tsi Awd.
Question for the experienced. I ordered a water pipe the other day (in a hurry) and got it in along with a valve cover since mine is cracked and noticed it was for a 1g non-Turbo.
Will the 1G non-turbo water pipe work for me?
Here is the necessary info...
6bolt,1G head, 5spd, Greddy OIL-cooled only 18G (no water ). DSMlink
Got a few more questions after this one if you guys don't mind.
Thanks,
MM

Doesnt the 2g oil cooler have a line that goes from the water pipe to the cooler like the 1g? If so, you will have to do some fab work to make the oil cooler work or you can just go with a 90 style filter housing and cooler. I vote for the latter because it seems to be the safer way to go anyway.

Not sure..sold my filter housing on eBay the other day...the 6-bolt is a 90 model so it has the air-to-air oil cooler fittings on it.
So I should be set with the 1g Non-turbo waterpipe.

Anyone have any helpful info about that stud i mentioned? Should I drill it out and Heli-coil it?

You have the correct water pipe. I forgot about the water oil cooler setup. I use the air oil cooler setup too. As for the broken stud, if its only one you can leave it in and it wont hurt anything. The gasket will still seal. I have a broken stud on my head exh. side and it doesnt leak out of that area. If you really must have it out then try drilling the center of the stud w/ a 1/8" carbide drill bit and then try to back the stud out w/ an easy-out.

A non turbo water pipe is an excellent choice if you are running an oil cooled turbo only, thats what i have on my 6 bolt and it eliminates the need to plug lines.

If the stud were in the middle I would agree, but it is at the far right hand side. I would feel much better if I removed it and replaced it with those SS i purchased.
So drill center and try and easy out..would soakin in PB blaster or something else maybe help the removal with the easy out?

PB Blaster or some liquid wrench might help. It wont hurt to try. The stud thats droken off in mine is the one all the way to the left when u look at the front of the motor. Like I said, it doesnt leak or show any sings of leaking, but i understand you wanting to get that outa there. Oh yeah, make sure u use the correct tap handle for the easy out or ull end u breakin it off and then ur gonna hate life. Good Luck
