after having my walbro 255 installed my gas gauge doesnt work, coincidence or linked? when i fill my tank it goes to a 1/4 tank on the gauge and moves down but never goes above a quarter tank on the gauge. im just wondering if it could be linked to something in installing the pump or just coincidence. thanks for the help :dsm:

im having the same problem after i installed my 190, but with me my gas gauge fills up but when it goes back down to a quater of a tank it stops and wont go any lower. my gas light comes on when it gets empty so i know its getting stuck at that point for some reason. we both must have our pumps gauge sensor either catching something in the tank and hanging up on it or we have the pump in wrong somehow. hope this may help you maybe we can figure out whats wrong because it seems like we are stuck at the same point only you are under it and im over it. have you tried turning the pump housing to the left or right in the tank? i was think of trying that when i get time to work on it.

i hate it when things are "no worky" Whatever that means... take the cover off the tank and check the rod/float mechanism.

97GSX-509 messeged me and said:

"Yes...it is related. Here is what you need to do...

Take it back to wherever you had it installed (I am assuming you took it somewhere based on how you spoke about it). The float valve is not sitting properly in the tank. This happened to my Walbro, on my buddy's car. If you feel comfortable doing it yourself....take out the back seat bottoms and unscrew the plate under the rear-passenger side. This is where your fuel pump is located. Once you have the plate off, disconnect all wiring (including the fuel line under the car). Unscrew the large plastic ring around the pump...pull it out and re-position it in there. When you pull it out you will see a rubber float....that is how your fuel is measured. It is a pretty tight fit in there, so a lot of times if you are not careful...this problem will occur. Good luck!!"

im going to try that tomarrow, thank you 97GSX-509. ill let you all know if it worked

i installed mine myself so sometime this weekend ill try to turn it a little. thanks for the tip

mine stopped working BEFORE i installed my 190. When I swapped out the pump, I checked the resistance on the sending unit while moving the floater up and down, and it wasn't in spec. I don't even want to know how much a new one will cost LOL.

question guys....

mine worked fine for about 3 months after installing it. last week i filled the tank up for a trip and it never went above 3/4. Seeing as how it was fine for 3 months after installing my pump, should i go ahead and pull it back out? or would it be a bad float?
