So i been researching about rebuilding 6bolt..

Hey guys/girls

So past 2-3 weeks i been just researching about rebuilding 6bolt so i could rebuild the 6bolt and install on my 95 tsi awd. I just want your opinion on this product i might be purchasing. I was looking at top line engine rebuild kit that our sponsors were selling, while i was doing searching on the fourms i found some problems accure with top lines with few of members.

[updated]So here it goes...

New Mitsubishi front case with oil pump gears
Mitsu oem full engine gasket
mitsu oem timeing belt kit
JAM~4G63 Prem Engine Brg.set for 6bolt
Piston: mitsu oem 95 piston
Balance shaft eliminator kit
ARP Head studs
ARP Rod bolts
ARP main studs
New water pump
New oil pump
Also i will be using my 2g intake/exhaust manifold. with 1g TB/2g elbow combo


undecide on the head tho [probaly 1g rebuild head]

So is there more stuff i need to get to rebuild 6bolt shortblock?

I was going for oem 6bolt rebuild but while i was researching part i decide to maybe upgrade few things. So if i miss something please let me know.

I don't know much about upgrading the internals, but I know you can just use your 2g head if it's in good shape, although it will be mentioned, if not by me, that the 1g head flows more. Either way, 2g head bolt holes need to be enlarged 1 mm to fit larger 1g head bolts. That is what I plan on doing, mainly to keep any smog issues and codes from happening, but only because I live in cali. Also, ARP is definately recomended on here, I will be using them too.
 
I'd keep the 1g rods for 500whp or less applications, and use 2g, or forged pistons to raise the compression. Maybe a cometic Hg while you're at it, and definitely a water pump. Also if you're gonna use the 2g intake mainfold, (why?) use the 1g TB/2g elbow combo. Toss in some new rod and main bearings while you're in there.

Thats all I can think of for now.

LOL yeah i might just end up using my 2g head because of the money issue. i know about 2g head bolt has to enlarged 1mm. but hopefully ill have enough money for 1g head.

i think i'm going with 1g rods and 2g piston because of the money issue. Oh about the head gasket i was going to upgrade with 4 layer mitsu head gasket. i thought 2g intake mani because i thought it was larger than 1g? no? if not i guess i will be using what you said 1g TB/2g elbow combo. 1g intake mani flows more and its bigger on the inside than 2g intake mani. However if you're gonna use a 2g head than stick with a 2g intake manifold. Using a 1g intake manifold on a unported 2g head is not recomended because the ports on the head would be smaller than on the intake manifold. You may use a 1g tb with a 2g intake manifold, but make sure to port the manifold to match the size of the 1g tb.

Right now most likely i will be getting 2g piston with 1g rod and so far money situation looks good i think atleast. So i think i will be purchasing 1g head tho. I'll make sure if i get 1g head i will do 1g TB/2g elbow combo.

So do i have everything cover to rebuild my shortblock?
 
I know we're talking about an engine build here and it seems as if most bases are covered......make sure you got new pumps(oil&water)!!!!!! Track down a 14b if you can, so you can have a little fun after your breakin in period, unless you have bigger plans. Good luck with everything...hope all goes well :thumb:

yeah you read my mind man i want to go with 14b so hopefully i will find 14b soon enough. Also yeah after i break in the engine and hopefully i will go with T28 or Big 16g.
yeah i'm getting new oil/water pump as well.
