moncton,
i am rebuilding a 4g63 from a 97......i need to know what the size range for each color of crank and rod bearing is???????and also what is a 6 and an 8 bolt people always talk about??????what r the stock piston good up to in horsepower terms?????thanx...:dsm:

not sure on the color range, but the 6 and "7" bolt people are always talking about referes to the bolts that attach the flywheel to the crank. The 6 bolts are stronger engines. Stock 2G pistons are good for alot of HP. I would say an easy 450hp.

Something also missed is changing from Hydralic Lash lifters to solid
valve adjusters
The factory HLL cannot hold up during high rpm runs they create lash that is never present until they rob your power.
They have proven that power continues to build through the RPM's instead of limiting it, just from changing the lifters.
They also put it under a 12k mile test and it held up.
Look up 4g63 on yahoo half way down the page for more info

problem with Solid lash adjusters is that you will need to retorque after breaking in.
