2G exhaust leak?

MY car when I'm sitting makes like a little tapping or sputtering noise by the down pipe or test pipe some where, i haven't really gotten down there yet and recently when I'm pulling at full boost in first and second i gear theres hard sputter around 5 or 6 grand its like a quick popping noise. is there anything you guys might be able to suggest?

Well, my car has a leak at the manifold, and there is a definate ticking noise. So, the noise is probably the exhuast leak. My car is very inconsistant under boost as well, but that is most likely because the leak is before the turbo. Since your leak is after the turbo, I wouldn't think it would cause stutter and popping. That sounds like fuel cut to me.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a pre-turbo leak (burned out gasket on the Tial 38), and I have the same symptoms. Slow spool, inconsistant boost, ticking at idle and a V8 growl under load. But it definitely doesnt cause shuttering or popping.

Any post-turbo exhaust leak might make noise, but it wouldn't be anything that you could feel, so it sounds like your problems are caused by something else.....

this just in, i think it was my alternator causeing the sputter because my car just took a crap on me and wont hold a charge and right before the altornator stoped all together it was sputtering really hard so i got a project this week to get a new alt and install it god i hate messing with belts .

As long as you exhaust leak is after the turbo it means nothing.

yea if there is one its deffitnitly behind the front tire somwhere like where the door meets the fender, or maybe its just a really bad tap im gonna check it out when i do the alternator
