Hi All,

I'm having a hard starting problem. It may take aroungd 3 tries for it to start. After it start, if I shut the car off and restart it right away, it will start right up in one try. The car idle fine but if I give it a slight throttle, it seems to want to stall. I notice my fuel pressure after the car start to be around 43 psi with vacuum line on. Also, when I turn the car off, the pressure will drop quickly to 0 psi in like 3 seconds. I have a rewire 255 walbro with the stock FPR. I know that I need an AFPR. The pressure is also erractic. It may jump around from 41 to 43 psi constantly. There are many question after I did the reseach. Am I over running the stock FPR and running rich? Why does my fuel pressure drop so fast on the stock FPR? BTW, I did replaced the rubber seal around the fuel pump and the tank. Is my fuel system leaking somewhere which causes me to have hard starting issue (low fuel pressure which require a few crank)? Thanks in advance for your time. :thumb:

yep, you have problem with fuel or ignition. Where is your fuel pressure gauge hooked up??? if is after fpr than its normal for pressure to drop quickly. I can tell you that is not fpr, its something before fuel rail, fp is bad or maybe not rewired correctly ( check connections).
check cables and spark plug too. Let me know if you fix it.

i remember my Tahoe had a problem like this. the dealer said the fuel pump gasket was gone, along with the fuel pump(which i knew since it whined more than it should, louder than a 255).

if the fuel pump didnt seal correctly when you installed it, it will lose all vacuum overnight and take a while to start in the morning. but since it was ran, then turned off and started right afterwards, the vacuum hadnt let out yet, so it fired right up.

The fuel pressure gauge was installed right on top of the fuel filter. I have the B&M gauge. I will check the rubber seal between the fuel pump and the tank again. Can leaky injectors cause the pressure to go down fast like this? Thanks all again for the replies.
