Hi all, I'm getting my 92 Laser RS Awd next week so I'm doing some research. I like the 3" Thermal R&D exhaust but I would like to know if you can get these with dual tips on the muffler. Also, will dual tips quiet down the sound from low to medium (3k) rpms? I want a 3" but I can do without the highway drone that makes your ears ring. I read on apex-i's website that dual tips gives a little more backpressure and better midrange power. The bling factor is really nice, and the dual tips would give a polished-stock appearance. If anyone has a setup like this with a 3" DP I would be grateful if you shared :)

I'm assuming the one I'm looking at is under the "classic exhaust" page...the picture is of a dual exhaust setup. I wonder if that fits our cars? Maybe I can email them to do it custom, if possible. Here's the Link. To anyone who's ordered this exhaust: which part number did you order? how much did you pay for it? I'd love to get away with paying 650 bux for it (maybe more if I can get the dual polished tips). Any info would be helpful.:thumb:

They do have their "Classic" systems... not sure which apps are dual tip and which aren't.

Thermal doesn't have a 3" inlet universal with dual outs either... might pick up a Borla universal and some custom 3" stainless piping.

But you can put on a dual tip from like roadrace done custom of course with no problems right? Just cut off the coffee can and weld on the twin tips. I read that they said its best to cut it really to the tips for flow purposes.

$520 is excellent - for that price I might as well just go with it. I don't know how much dual tips will cut down on the extra noise a 3" generates but from the reviews I've read it seems the exhaust sounds pretty nice the way it is. Anyways, I'm going to pick up the car this monday. I have to take a half-day off to get it, put new calipers on it, adjust the clutch pedal, put some redline shift fluid in it (anyone know where I can buy this or a good equivalent?) and install an aftermarket cd player. My friend gave me a nice Kenwood unit for helping him change the brakes on his neon (hella cool guy for someone I met at a party). I can't wait for DSM #2!!

GM syncromesh is a good tranny fluid. It made my shifting alot smoother. It's like $11 at the GM dealership

Will I need a 3" DP? From what I understand the Thermal R&D bolts up to your exsisting DP. I shouldn't need a 3" until I'm making serious power, correct? On a side note, we've got wet snow falling today...and I get my AWD monday! W00t! :p

Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll post some pics of my car monday, I'll pick up a disposable camera and snap some pics. They will be up by next friday. :dsm:
