Can I use 1G CAS to help prolong my 2G from Cwalk

My car was running fine until the Crank Angle Sensor broke. I'm still about months away from a 6bolt swap. Can I then use the 1G CAS to mitigate the problem for now? I've read from other posts that I can just leave my current CAS on and just use a 1G to make the job easier too. I just want to get confirmation from other people who may have done this as well. Or if this can make my motor last another year then I'll probably just trade this in for an EVO :thumb:
I appreciate any input. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the CAS has nothing to do with CW. Why are you swapping to a 6bolt has your motor all ready started to walk?

The CAS has nothing to do with CW but being damaged by it. All I'm trying to do is a way to buy time until I can get the 6bolt swap and make the CAS replacement easier. Therefore, If I can use a 1G CAS instead of replacing my Crank sensor then it'll be easier to do and may make the engine last longer since it won't damage the 1G CAS (since its at the camshaft/head rather than at the block) as oppose to the 2G gradually being chipped away by the crank. That is if I understand this correctly, that the 1G CAS can take the job of both the Cam Angle sensor and the Crank angle sensor on a 2G.

If your only 3 months away from your 6 bolt, you could probably get away with wiring in a 1g for now. Its not a permanent fix but it should work for now. Keep in mind that CW not only causes damage to the crank sensor but also the bearings and the crank itself.
If you must drive it for now, than yes it should work.

Thanks 2gred. Yeah, I know what damage cwalk can do I'm just hoping that I can buy enough time to save up for a 6bolt w/ head work as well. One last thing I wanted to know though is if i can just leave the current crank angle sensor in place when I install the 1G CAS. I'll probably head over to RRE and get the harness as well just to make things easier.

LOL. I highly doubt your going to get even a few months.

Once your crank moves enough to smoke the angle sensor your pretty well screwed and just a few thousand miles away from having the whole thing blow up. Lets put it this way, by the time that happens there is so much crap floating around in your oil and in your pan from your thrust bearings being totally destroyed that you may get another 1000 miles on the engine but even then your really stretching it.

Your motor is smoked now. If that works it will be very short lived.
