ok, i'm going to start modifying my talon this next summer... i've already started by removing the air canister and adding a turbo timer, next will be a big exhaust, boost control, and maybe a clutch. essentially, what i want is a talon that can hold it's own with any other car on the street:cool:.
i don't want a big turbo lag, but that won't be for at least another year after these mods.
i'm limiting the first set of mods at $2k, here's the plan:
turbo xs dual stage boost controller $200
3" downpipe w/02 elim and NO cat + 3" cat back system w/4" tip muffler unless i can find a good dual tip that looks stock and flows as much air as a 3" or better. $500??
am i making any mistakes?? i discussed these plans with a guy at a local shop that has a 10sec eclipse, and he thinks this would be the best setup to go with considering i'm not aiming for the track.

can someone find a good place to order the turbo back exhaust from? i found a full system under the list of products http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/register.php?a=act&u=7648&i=10325224 on this site, but i can't find it anywhere...
any recommendations for a clutch?

i'm getting mine from Extreme Motorsports. Its like $900 but its worth it.....Full 3" turbo back mandrel bent exhaust with o2 Eliminator DP.

I built mine for less that 400. But to each their own.

i got my turbo back custom made....everything plus installation for 475. i wish i had the 02 elminator and i wish my turbo back wasn't all welded together....if i remove the exhaust...i gotta remove everything on it...sucks for me...but saved alot in the long run....i'll probably buy myself an arc welder and weld on new flanges n sh*t

turbo xs dual stage boost controller $200
damn if yer goin to send that much i would send a bit more and get a profect-b or something like that.:dsm:

2.5" tubular o2 housing with an external dump. 3" turbo back with 2 resonators. Flanged about where the cat would be. Dynomax round SS muffler with a 3" pipe as a tip. Its quieter than almost any other 3" exhaust locally. Both at idle and at WOT.

Is that 3" exhaust i mentioned above good. From the other ones i've looked at it seems good just a bit pricey which i dont mind.

i thought about it, getting either a profec or some other electronic boost controller, but for less than half the price, i can get a manual controller that i can switch the setting on the fly from inside:thumb:
besides, several people that i know around here (including the dude i mentioned earlier, and another guy with a beefed up mr2) say that a manual is the best way to go

Where did you get the pieces at? I was looking for a quiet 3inch and was going to build my own.

Also I would get the exhaust and an mbc, but not the turboxs. The dejon tool one that you can set 2 or 3 different boost levels always looked good. Never tried it although i have see nothing but good reviews. Also make sure you do a f.p. rewire or get a new pump.

Good luck man :thumb:

there is a tuning guide right here on this site, and it will get ya all ya need, and more :) for 2grand you will have a full stage1 build up, and if you get any deals, you could also get a 2G exhaust manifold as well, and some other parts.

My advice would be to just get a good, non fancy brand name boost controller tho. They are like $40 bucks or less, and then wire in the stock boost control solenoid system, with a switch in-car. Then you have 2 stage boost control for under $50 bucks. Any time I can save $150 US bucks, I will :D

Unless you really have to have the shiny name brand goodies, but personally I like good stuff that is cheap. And with manual boost controllers, they are all the same inside, a ball bearing and a spring, with an adjustable part. I built mine for $13.58 Canadian :)

but, again, read the guide, it is very good.
