Ive been debating with this one for a really long time now. For many reasons wich i won't really cluster in this first post, I will be using the SBR cast mani. Decidedly by slowboy they only make this mani with a mitsu flange, so my garrett turbo must have either a mitsu flange, or a garrett plate adapter.

Now ive never seen the plates up close next to a garrett housing, assuming they were the exact same size and shape, only different bolt patterns this will be the route i go with. However if the plates do not create a smooth tunnel then I must reconsider wich would be less of a restriction.

My other issue is how efficient is a mitsu housing hogged out onto a garrett wheel compared to a garrett housing designed for that wheel? I imagine there are some pretty dynamic technology that goes into the housing to make everything work properly. Is it really as simple as boring out the housing to fit over the wheel, I guess it would be precision machined but it still sparks doubt.

If I could get some one to drop so9ome knowledge on this subject for me to confirm or debunk any suspicions in here that would be much appreciated.

IMHO, I would go with a garret turbine housing with a adapter plate before shoving a larger garret turbine wheel into the compromised mitu 7cm housing.
I guess the question is which compressor, turbine wheel combo are you thinking about doing this with ?

in retrospect it might be the 8cm housing they do this with. the turbo, this is kind of a tricky one, could be a gt30r or a gt35r, not 100% certain yet. I flip flop from week to week.......

EEEEEEEEK. We haven't machined Garrett CHRA's into a Mitsu 7cm or 8cm in a long time.

We cast turbine housings now that work much better. Here are some compaison pic's that are over three years old off our old website. This housing is for the Garrett GT platform, we have them for Garrett Standard bearing as well.

Thanks,

Thanks, still how good is your cast housing relative to garrett's, how much within spec are those housings and ive heard they still aren't as efficient as garrett's. BTW were all those pictures cast housings or were some of the garrett or mitsu?

BTW, wich would you use (should of just asked this first,LOL) plates or a cast housing?
