I ordered my recirculation kit today and installed it but I hated it because first off it's virtually silent (my stock bov is 3x louder) and second it's worse than when i had it VENTED. So i vented it again and tried to tune it but nothing's working. I know u have to loosen the nut then tighten the bolt and i tried about 5 different times and the best i got it to do was idle at 6k. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

sounds to me like something is damaged inside it. the first time i put mine on i tightened it about two turns and it idles right at 1000 but only because i set my biss at that rpm.

hmmmm. That's the only thing i could think of too. Even if my bov vented back into the intake , shouldn't the sound still be noticable?
Only problem now is...How to return my bov i ordered online...:(

sounds like you're leaking air somewhere else. Make sure the bov is seated properly. I added an extra ring of RTV around the flange before putting the valve in for it to seal.

thats what i did too.. RTV..

i dont know how it would run worse with it vented back? :shrugs: its expected that you wont hear it.. you get so use to the sound that when you vent it back.. u think something is wrong.. LOL..

the stock bov is pretty loud...i'm pretty sure there are people in here with the hks bov that can hear it just fine with the recirc kit. do u have an open air filter?
just return it and get a greddy type s.

if you didn't get my PM silver, you might be leaking from the hose that goes from your intake manifold to your bov...i was and it made me idle like crap...i actually got my bov to vent to atmosphere with little problems..die out once or twice but either than that it works perfectly...PROPS to mavisky for the help =D ...latez

onegee, if you turn up your idle to aeound 1000 with the biss its should fix alot of that, and after awhile the ecu will learn its way around it and should stop dying.

Well i tried everything and it still doesn't idle right and I don't know if I can return it now because I already opened the box and everything. My question now is...if i somehow get them to take it back will the Type-S be louder than the hks and my stock bov vented BACK INTO the intake?

Hey 98SilverGS-T,

I think the post concerning RTV can be extended to the "adjustment' screw which did nothing in my case beside leak air when we pressure tested it. You might want to seal that area as well although my car idled fine w/ the leak.

All in all, sounds like there is something wrong beyond tuning if you can only get your car to idle at 6K. I would recommend pulling the SSQV off and pulling it apart to ensure that all rubber guides/seals are functioning properly.

As for the sounds, I thought in your other post you didn't care about loosing the sound? I can tell you that if you run a decent sized turbo and some boost you'll make some noise ... plus, the SSQV is actually known for its distinct bypass flutter [aka compressor surge .. which it is not].

Pull it apart, put it back together, and try again .. let us know how it goes.

Hope the information helps at least a little...

dont really know what u mean by that:confused:
but my type s is loud when non venting and SCARY loud when venting.

It helped a bit and I understand the sound isn't going to be there, which upsets me :( because my 2g bov sounds louder and I see no big difference in performance between the 2. I'm upset that 200$ went towards something that's giving me so much trouble when I could have spent it on something else. I might just take it to a place down the street and see if they can tune it/ see what's wrong with it. Thanks for the help and I'll let you know how everything goes.

Let me know how this turns out. I plan on getting the HKS S/S BOV and would like to see how this turns out. My friend has one on his Turbo'd '99 Civic Si, and the #@%#@%#@%#@% just vents like a mo-fo (I like the high pitched sneeze of the HKS).

Anyone have experience with the Apex BOV? Just ran across it the other day, looks like something worth looking into.
