Timing Retard

A local performance shop told me that when you go over 12 psi of boost , you should retard the timing 2 degrees per pound of boost after that. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

the ECU automatically advances and retards the timing, unless you have cam gears to do it your self and I dont think there is a rule of thumb for doing it
