need help customizing my intake

hey im thinkin of makin my own cold air intake. is there anyone here that would be able to let me know if its possible. u know, can i just go to autozone or somewhere and pick up the piping and filter and fabricate my own intake. im new to cars but i really want to get my hands dirty with my car and makin some of my own things. if anyone could help that would be great. and also does anyone know how i would go about cleanin out my side mount intercooler. i hear thats a free upgrade but im not sure as to exactly how to do it. any help would be greatly appreciated

I doubt Autozone carry's pipe that big, but yes you can find some pipe and weld your own together. Just make sure you put on all the required nipples and fittings and whatnot.

you are turbo.

there is no place to "source" cold air from, or to relocate the filter to the ouside to unless you get rid of the sidemount. 2nd the maf is not round... ti's oval so you will be bending pipe and then splitting it and welding in a filler piece to get it to fit the maf.

you can get cold air in there by simply opening up the existing hole that fed the airbox some more, but with out building a block off plate to reseal the maf and filter from engine bay air (like it was when it was in the box) it is not going to do you much if any good.

That is somethign that would be a worthwhile job however.
