I'm finally starting to cave in and I'm planning on buying a set of hks 272s on friday. I have adjustable cam gears, however it's my understanding that they can stay zero'd out until I hit the dyno? The only thing I'm using to tune at the moment is the translator so should I expect any driveability issues from putting the cams in? For the most part my settings should be the same ... maybe a little richer at 5k and up right? I just don't want to buy the cams and install them and then have the car run like shit either or stall out everywhere. My idle is set at 850 so I shouldn't have too many idle problems right? I'd appreciate someone that has these cams chiming in and letting me know of any problems or anything to expect. Suggestions on where to set the cam gears and / or base timing are also welcomed. I was planning on leaving the gears at 0 and the base timing at 5, but if someone with a similar setup to mine has a better idea I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

You're right about not having to tune with them. However, a lot of people have had their car run like shit w/out tuning them. And on the flip side of it, a lot of people have had no problems w/out tuning them.
Personally, I'd start tuning right away just to ensure that your a/f and timing is kosher.
You should probably leave it at zero until you can find out what type of ratio's you're going to be running into with just having them at zero. :thumb:
