Cheap 3" exhaust?

What's my cheapest option to go with a 3" exhaust turbo-back if possible?

I've heard people talking about having exhausts just put on at an exhaust shop, and people buying pre-bent mandrel pipes, and enlisting some help...

What's the cheapest way?

Cheapest 3" O2 eliminator exhaust

RRE turbo outlet flange
2 90 deg mandrel bends
Large nut thread pitch and diameter to match O2 sensor
~1.5" 90 deg mandrel bend for dump tube
3" Flex section
3" dynomax bullet muffler
3" turndown
2' 3" pipe
2 3" 3 bolt flanges (optional)

This is the parts list from which I built the exhaust that's on my car. It's not shiny, but it was cheap flows as much as any other 3" exhaust. You should be ale to visualize how it goes together.

Note: It currently turns down and exits under the car near the rear axle (a la Mustang GT style) I plan to complete the exhaust to the rear of the car this winter.

How quiet is it?
I mean, I'm on a wicked tight budget, so cost is paramount, but I also don't want to attract any unwanted attention to myself.

Does the wastegate dump to atmosphere, or did you weld it into the downpipe/O2 housing thing?

Also, Where did you get the mandrel bent pipes from? I've seen a few at JC Whitney, but that's it.

I bought everything except the muffler (resonator) from RRE.

The WG is routed back into the exhaust, there are pics in the gallery. Pardon the sloppy welding.

It is VERY loud right now, but it will be much quieter after I complete the rear section.

What was your cost on that? Just curious I plan on fabricating my own after the DP. Plans are a 3" O2 elim exhaust.

Check RRE's site for costs, I don't want to quote prices I paid as they might be different now.

550? Can't you purchase a better exhaust system for that amount?
ATR sells a full 3" for 450.00...and it's stainless steel...

The last shop I went to quoted 250.00 with a flex piece.

However, you have to get different quotes at different local shops for custom mandrel bent exhaust. Not many shops even have a mandrel bender, mostly pressbent crap. Call around, look at their previous work on their own cars. The local shop I contacted was Muffler Bros. They put the car on the lift and went over each of the bends and looked to see what was the best way to route it. When I was told it would be 325.00 I raised my brow and said Rainbow Muffler quoted me 280.00 with the flex piece. The guy at Muffler Bros then quoted 250.00... I didn't argue, because I didn't actually get a quote at Rainbow Muffler.

On another note...
It makes it quite apparent what the work is actually worth to them if they are willing to chop that much off of their price. Usually because most of the shops are about to rape your wallet.

Now I just have to get the work done. Broke right now...

Zero, the prices listed on that site are for cat-back only, as far as I can tell. I'm asking specifically about turbo-back, including the O2 sensor housing.

Total: $223.25

Add about $12 more if you run out of wire in your mig welder like I did.

If you wan't to complete the exhaust to the stock location you'll need 2 or 3 more 3" 90 deg bends, as well as some straight 3" pipe and of course a 3" muffler.

I'll take some pics next time I have the exhaust off the car.

does anyone happen to know exactly which pieces to buy to finish off a 2g awd exhaust to the stock location?

for ~250$ this sounds like a good idea... my friend has a shop with a welder and stuff, and he says he can do it.

I just ordered a downpipe from buschur, and for like $100 the local muffler shop bent it and hung a 3" flo-pro....an AWD is VERY simple to run an exhuast for...only two bends!

The axle looks like too much fun for a FWD so I just dump them under the car.
