salmon arm,
I just installed a NOS Fuel Pressure Regulator...I run 880cc injectors so i dropped the fuel pressure down to 15 psi and that created a way better timing map.My mechanic suggested i get one and i had no idea it would work so well. Now i have more torque down low. Here are a couple pics.....

You will see how well 15psi works when you boost hard. The GM MAF should be able to control these ok. 880's aren't that large. I would run no less than 38psi base fuel pressure. All my cars are at 43psi. To each his own.

Good luck

Steve

If i have a 57 trim ,880s, MAS & MAFT (2.3 stroker)what would you guys suggest my base fuel pressure be set at????I've been reading and it seems most people with 680s have their base fuel pressure set at 32 to 38 psi?

first of all normal fuel pressure as mentioned above is 43.5psi and the size of injectors should not effect the FP that you run. the MAFT should be able to control them at the normal FP.
Secondly, check the specs on the particular regulator i believe that maximum fuel pressure is 55psi which is not sufficient for our cars, figure a proper base pressure of 43.5 plus a fairly conservative boost level of 15psi in a 1:1 ratio puts you at 58.5psi -the regulator cant even provide enough fuel for that small level of boost and with your mods i know you want to run much more. you are only getting away w/ it for now b/c you base pressure is set so low

I just wanted to state that FP is at 20 psi, i thought that it was at 15 but the mechanic turned it up to 20 psi..... i know that is still low..... i will get back to you asap and figure out what his explanation was that caused a better timing map from lowering the fuel pressure... thanks for the input, steve :thumb:

try looking for boost leaks.......
its possible to tune your car with a boost leak with a translator but you'll be alot slower and your turbo will work alot harder......

that might explain why your car runs good with that low of base pressure since you'd be losing all that air........

i don't know, just a theory. :talon:
