I would like to replace the two hard lines (flare fittings) that attach to a 92 power steering rack with AN lines. I would like to replace both the high pressure line (the short hard line, not the one that attaches to the pump) and low pressure fitting (following up with stainless AN line instead of the factory hard line to the reservoir). I know companies like Jegs and Summitt sell flare to AN fittings and high pressure power steering lines-- I just need to know the thread information and correct AN Size to purchase.

This would make the fittings on the rack much easier to access, more reliable, and easier to plumb in a cooler. Besides, new lines from the dealer are probably the same price as AN (well, close enough any way).

Thoughts?

Any takers on this one?

Thanks,
Chris

If I find out anything, I will post it. This forum could use some more power steering info.

I spoke with a tech at a steering sales company called meridian. He provided me with the following information regarding the threads for the 1g power steering rack:

Pressure side
14 by 1.5mm
Return 15 by 1.5mm

Anyone know if there is an adapter to AN for these threads? Will it be able to seal considering O-rings are required on the stock threads?

Thanks,
Chris

Hmm, no M15 in sight. Could this be a mistake, or maybe someone else carries it? I am going to assume that the fittings that screw into the rack are metric and not any other type of threads?

Thanks,
Chris

just go to a hydrolic supply store like The Parker Store. you don't have to have an aluminum adapter. just get a steel one. i got the 16x1.5mm to -8 an adapters for my oil cooler line on my 90 block there. only cost me 14 dollars for the pair. they are rust proof coated, and mate with your pretty aluminum fittings just fine. I've been running them for almost two years. i could have spent 5 more dollars and gotten stainless, but i didn't care.
any hydrolic store should have them in stock.
