 Today I stepped out of car car while she was idleing and heard a loud chattering noise coming from under the hood. I looked over the whole engine bay and noticed the bottom crank pulley was loose and wobbling. So I went about tighting it and nothing changed. I tightened all four bolts around the inside of the pulley and the big nut in the center. I know the pulley isn't bent but it does look like there is some contact where the inside pulley meets the block. Do you have to drop the first pulley to tighten the second or what? This is my daily driver so any input would be great. Thanks and keep eatin them honda's... :laser:

do NOT drive the car. your pulley(harmonic balancer) is starting to separate, a common problem. the outer part is bonded to the inner part, and over time, they separate. under load, it will separate, all the belts will bind up, break the plastic timing cover, and break the timing belt. then the motor stops. forever. get a new one, not used, NEW.

There is a rubber piece around the Pulley, its there to dampen engine vibrations. It sounds like yours is going to the crapper.

I know that bushur sells them new, for like 100 bucks. You need to fix it soon because if you dont the balancer will fall into 2 pieces and make some nasty noises, and render all your accessories useless. besides, its 4 bolts and a tensioner to replace it.

Yep, fix that immediately, I have a 1g parts car that suffered the same fate, and now has a bunch of bent valves :notgood:
