2g's dont require a knock sensor. Datalogger will help you out with that. Just watch your timing and make sure its where it needs to be.

Jesus, could there be a more incorrect answer?

Anyway you will throw a CEL for not having a signal from the knock sensor. The car will go to limp mode and not run well at all. I would suggest that you take the sensor out of your old 7 bolt as long as it's not leaking and install it into your new motor. Good luck. :thumb:

oops, i just realized what i just typed, doh. I meant 2g's cant log knock. You can only watch your timing when you datalog. But yeah, re-use your old knock sensor so you dont get a cel. I have no idea what I was thinking. :p

the car does not have a cel on

my question is could i break something?
I can't find my old sensor and i have a race in a few days

i would definately NOT race without a knock sensor. that's asking for trouble and a car that won't run right to begin with. just get a knock sensor before you drive the car... especially at wot.

It's driveable without one, but I would avoid romping on it at all costs, since without the knock sensor you won't know if you're knocking or not when you go WOT

how hard is it to put in the knock sensor again?
How much should it cost me?

Last time i checked they were runnin about $170 somethin...Install isn't to bad..it's just a pain in the ass really..Good luck tho...Get that knock sensor back in there tho!!..dan
