Ok guys, i recently purchased a 95 AWD TSI with 80,XXX miles... Since the buy I've turbo swaped to a 14b. List of other mods... HKS BOV, manual boost controller, downpipe, exhaust, CAI, TRE ranny, ACT 2600 Clutch, STOCK fuel system and sidemount intercooler.
I've told ya that to get to this, the 14b will hammer to 20 psi and creep to 22, during the creep it detonates like a mother, like it's starvin for fuel. My question is could the detonation because of the stock fuel system and upgade to a 255 walbro and injectors or do i need colder plugs such as NGKs and advance the timing a little, or i was also told that it could be pushin to much air to the cyc and "blowin" out the flame. That just seems a little old to me with a 14b, but i could be wrong I'm new to the whole turbo thing. I've had a mustang 5.0 for the past 3 yrs so guys plz bear with me...

any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Check the base timing. Look on www.vfaq.com for info on doing the check. 1G's are set at 5* advanced. When I bought my car it was set on 15* !! Lower the boost for now to 14-16 PSI. Change the fuel filter in the engine bay, who knows whan it was last done. Depending on how much you have to spend you could add a Walbro and a fuel pressure gauge, the type that mounts on top of the fuel filter, B&M makes one. If you are going to upgrade as time goes on get the Walbro 255 and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. www.fullthrottlespeed.com has a nice bolt on AFPR for around $150. With an AFPR you can bump the base pressure a fewpounds and get a bit more fuelfro the 14b. Once again bac off the boost until the problem is resolved. Injectors should not be needed once you have everything up to spec. Check out the free mods, like clean your IC. I use the GM MAF-Translator for fuel ajustment, also from fullthrottle. You will need some gauges. A good boost gauge for sure though you may have that. I did not see a boost gauge. The factory gauge is not accurate enough. You may be boosting to 25 PSI.!!
Some form of logging will be required but I have a 1G and what i use, the Scanmaster, is not available for the 2g. Going to a colder range plug is not really needed at the levels you will be boosting to. you might want to regap the stock ones to .028 to .030. Check out the tuning guide above in the menu. Mark

How do you know that your knocking? Do you feel timing being pulled or have any kind of logging tool?
Turn down the boost, and look into a fuel pump and a re-wire. A walbro 190l will do fine for the time being and doesn't need a adjustable fuel pressure regualor or a maft.

OMG... You are running very lean on that. You are definitly getting lean knock. Your stock fuel system can't handle that much power. You cna re-wire your stock pump and get a FPR and bump the fuel pressure to 45 psi which if you have a SAFC you can compensate for. It will make your injectors act like larger injectors. You can run 18-19 PSI with more safty by doing this. The 14B isn't efficient past 18 PSI and you just end up blowing a lot of hot air. Also with the stock Side mount you will definitly want to kept it under 18 PSI.

thanks fellas, I'll get right on it. :thumb:
I'll post up and let ya know how things are...

thanks again

This is a major mistake that many people make when tuning. Drowning out knock with fuel is not the answer. Turn the boost down. It's better to run less boost and have a good air/fuel mixture than to run a lot of boost and have a shitty air/fuel mixture. Upgrade your fuel system to cooperate with increased airflow, not to drown out knock.
