what is a better route to go? also what are my price differences in both..i recently got my afc stolen and im trying to decide on what route i should go with to get it back up and running again. Maybe do some upgrades while im at it.

well, standalone is going to be way more money, but good ones are really good. If you are really serious. Not easy to use, nor easy to install, at least the ones I've seen. But they let you do alot more than a maft setup, or safc.

The GM maf and translator should be $250 for both pieces. Course you are talking blow thru, so you will need a new upper ic pipe and couplers, but if you go draw thru, you can use your existing pipes.

Also look at DSMLink, if you have an eprom or can get one.

Its middle of the road price wize.

i was thinking of goin with an aem standalone..i guess its just up to how thick the wallet is.

I'd suggest heavily researching the AEM and looking at all of the feedback from DSM users here(search). It's not for the intermediate tuner and can be pretty expensive and time consuming to get it set up properly.

On the other hand, the GM MAF/MAF-t or DSMLink (or both together) are extremly user friendly and inexpensive when looking at the big picture. Together they are the best street set up in my opinion and others.

from what i was informed the price of the AEM plug and play doesn't include the AEM boost control solenoid, the 3 bar MAP sensor, coil pack ect...., or any tech advise needed. i was told that to validate the warrenty the unit must be installed by a AEM certified tech and they are the only ones who can change the settings once installed. this was told to me by AEM (SEMA) and at the same time i was laughing in there face. it does do some cool stuff. one feature i thought was odd was you can program your Check Engine Light to come on as a shift light. you can also set 1000cc injectors on a stock Honda Accord and through programing have it run completely stock during daily driving. you can go to there web site and tinker with some of there example map settings. its alot of crap if you don't know wats going on or have alot of money. i say keep it simple and easy. go with MAFT setup and later adding a DSMlink.

Best bet would be the MAF and translator. DSMLink would be a better bet than AEM since you won't have to worry about driveability issues and the learning curve is not as steep.

where would i be best off getting the gm maft setup? should i buy thru dejontool.com??

yes dejontool is fast, i orderd mine wed and got it tonight. Also a user of the 1gDSMlink and MAFT

i used to recommend DSMparts.com but they just recently changed the people that answer the phones to people off the street who don't no DSM's from a hole in the wall. i guess call volume increased. all i wanted to know if their GM sensors came with couplers or clamps and they said, "i am going to shoot the tech staff an email on your question, can i have your phone #" OMG no good.

buy the translator from dejontool and get the maf from the classified section of this website to save you a couple of bucks

I use the MAF-T from fullthrottle and they have a support forum for help. got the maf for $50. from a local yard. Ordered an EPROM ECU yesterday, for a '90 so i will have to switch 2 wires. May go with a keydiver chip to start with. Consider the Scanmaster from fullthrottle if you have a 1g as it shows 02 voltage and knock sum as you are driving and you can switch to any of over 15 pieces of data to see in realtime and you can also log for later use with an adapter an software they supply.
