Hi guys i'm working on my friends DSM that he just bought, a 92 Talon TSi AWD. I wanted change the pistons on it but the previous owner had a motor repalced which he got from some engine palce. Suposebly it should to be a 92 DSM engine but im very unsure of that. When i tried ordering pistons and rings for it, it said that there is some differance between a 90- 4/92 and 5/92 - 95. unfortunately i have no clue and the previous owner dosen't either of the date in which the car that they got the engine out of was produced. So i was wondering if any of you guy could tell me if this was a pre - 4/92 or after 4/92 block  . The numbers on the front of the block that are stamped on that plate are as follow:
4G63
KE1364

I hope this helps anything or if someone could give me the clues of how to distinuish between the pre - 4/92 and post 4/92 motor. It would be greatly appreciated! Thank You.

halfway through 92 the blocks went from 6 bolt cranks to 7 bolts.
so the model that were made before 4/92 are 6bolt main and the after 4/92s have 7 bolt mains right? and i know there is a differance in the head bolts which is what?

the difference in head studs is the diameter. 6 bolts use 12mm head studs 7 bolts use 11mm head studs
