I got the new greddy turbo timer and the harness and it tried to install my self. i went through all the instructions and all and i swear its all right. and when i go to turn my car off. i turn it one click, To where its on ACC not actually off. and the turbo timer begins to count down. it does everything right. but when i go to turn the car completely off and take the key from the ignition. the car turns off and as well the turbo timer turns off without timing down.

can somebody please help me!

i tried my best to be specific about my problem, so if you dont understand just let me know.

thanks

illeagle95.. how exactly is vfaq supposed to help him you.. he has it hooked up, it just doesnt work.. read the rules before posting again, it says clearly if you cant help the person then dont reply.

anyway OneFastGST.. double check all your connections. make sure your ground is good also you might want to try and hook up the wires that go to the clutch or to the parking brake. one or the other.

another question, if i had it wired wrong, it wouldnt even turn on at all, right?

thanks.

p.s. i dont think i could havd it wired wrong, i bought the harness, its pretty simple, its just 2 plugs.

well it will come on with just power and ground.. its the ignition that actually tells it when to keep the car on and count down..

but i had similar problems with mine and it turned out to be that the parking brake wire wasnt hooked up good. fixed that and it worked fine.

DAMN IT

mine does the exact same thing, i cant figure it out. i posted that same problem months ago, and still have not rersolved it. please post you're solution if you ever find one:xnuts: greddy TT

have u figured it our yet? If not try this http://ca.dsm.org/FAQ/2gtt-faq.html
by the way,do u have an aftermarket alarm system? because after I installed my alarm system, when the timer shut the car off. the alarm unlocks the doors(so I still have to wait to relock the doors), anyone found away to get around that?
I have the Python ESP 3000 if that helps.
sorry to hijack your thread, but its on the topic.

no alarm and i have not gotten it straight yet. i have a 1G, and i think the e-brake wire is not connected correctly. i just tapped it at the bottom of the e-brake handle. i did not remove the center console

ok everybody i found out the problem, the greddy harness is BUNK!! it doesnt have the correct wires ran. i brought my car to a good friend of mine, who installs stereos. and he tested every wire, and found out that in the harness, the 12 volt power cord, and the ignition 1 and actually switched. they ran the wrong wires. i know this becuase he had one of those tester things. and what he did was cut the power cord on the harness and bypassed the ignition wire. its kind of a pain in the ass. it took a good half an hour to test all the wires and trouble shoot the problem.. but we did get it working, and besides this bullshit, it works great. and on another note. if any of you know how to install the wire into the ECU that makes the speedometer work on the turbo timer? just another question.

thanks for all you guys help!!

I might be able to help you out with the ECU wire...

You have a chilton's or a haynes manual?
Check the engine wiring diagrams and it'll give you the correct wire to splice into... took me maybe 10 minutes to get it going once i had the correct info.

The Speed Sensor Wire on my 95 TSI is #86 (yellow)...and according to my book here is the same wire for the 98 as well.. doesn't specify for the 99 at all.. but i'm guessing its the same wire.

Take off the drivers side panel (beside your right foot)...

The ECU is right behind the factory stereo... can't miss it.. should have a couple of yellow connectors plugged in with lots and lots of wires connected to it.

Its the fourth connector (beside the smallest on)....
it should be the 4th or 5th wire from the inside on the bottom half.

Its yellow.. so it shouldn't be too hard to find... just follow the wire down a few inches... take off some of the insulation and tap your Turbo timer wire to it... it should be good then...

Tape it up with electrical tape and put everything back together...

just remember to calibrate the speed... its in the greddy manual.

Thats what i did... and its all working good.

Hope i helped you.. and didn't confuse you....

Message me if you have any questions...

Chris.

jdmawd, mine did the exact same thing. i could not figure it out, everything was hooked up right. it would countdown like 1 every 20 times and other than that i would have to manually turn it on and off it didnt come on and off with the start of the car like it should have nor did it countdown. it was wack. i took it out, i been meaning to light it on fire or throw it out the window on the highway or something like that., but yeah, def :xnuts: greddy tt :barf:
