I am having a dilemma. I currently have a small 16G on my 1G. I would love to just go all out on the turbo setup, but I want to keep the civility for the streets. i am not big on the external due to noise levels. Yes, I race, but I drive the car on the streets everywhere. the exhaust is loud as hell already, don't need to add an external to the mix. I know a bunch of people have the mutts and those are internally gated, right? What do you guys run? How are they? Pros and cons? I have been looking into internally gated Greens and 20Gs, but whoever I ask just says "internally gated 20gs and greens suck.". When I ask why, the answer is "They just do. Go external". So I come to all of you.... what is the consensus on internally gated greens or 20g? That is the direction I am leaning. i could just mount the external on the O2 and route it back into the DP, but I just bought this exhaust and feel it would be a waste of money to replace it a month after I got it. Any help and info would be great guys. Thanks.

I have a ETA32(mutt3) on my car and I love it. First pass of the year it turned a mid 12 rough tuned w/a stock clutch slipping all the way down the track.
All the mutts are internally gated, I don't know why some people are against the interal gate, the 39mm door is massive on the mutt turbos. If I were in your shoes I would get a internally gated turbo, especially if you want to stay at the same noise level, and save some money.
If you want some proof that internal gates work awsome just look at Jeff Elliots 633hp monster, I know his car is far from a daily driver but that just shows those internal gates do there job.
Here is a link where you can check out Jeff's car: http://www.dsm-performance.com/catalog/jeff_elliott.php

Hope this helps.

the key to good boost control, with an internal gate is. (1) proper flapper size, and (2) good o2 housing diameter. most prove to be a restriction and create turbulence when internally dumped. the problem with most internal dump o2's is that when the dump tube is reintroduced, to the main housing. the diameter is not large enough to flow smoothly into the down pipe. this makes the gasses from the dump section, bottle neck and create boost spiking and problematic boost control. (mostly when dealing with turbos 20G and larger. here is a PIC

now this type of setup, works well for turbos that flow around 500-550 cfm. once you jump to the 700-750 range and try to use this setup. the reintroduction of gasses from the dump section, creates turbulence because the housing is just not large enough to smoothly exit the gasses into the exhaust system. if you look at Elliot's car, and mine the internal diameter of the dump and exhaust sections are huge. 3" for the exhaust and 2.75 for the dump. unlike the above the dump section is reintroduced right at the flange for the d/p. not mid track which as stated before can cause turbulence when dealing with 20g and larger turbos, or something in the 700+ cfm range. here is a pic *DAMN* i forgot clubdsm's pics gallery is down, so i cant post the pics i wanted to. but you can get an idea from this one..

the way this o2 housing is built, its two completly seperate tubes. the dump tube is piggybacked to the main housing and then dumps at the flange for the d-p.

Greg that does help, but he needs to see your first pass!
That was sick!
He takes you off the line and I felt your clutches pain.
That was the only thing he took you on.
You pounced on him like a cat.
It's at importevolution.com click videos.

It is not my place to answer questions about the internally gated
green or 20g. I have not driven one or know anyone who has. I can
only help you with those mutts. The other information hopefully will
be supplied by someone with turbo and from the representative you
purchase it from.

First, I apologize for the lack of info. on this site, but if you look at
the top of the page you will see that we are trying to change that.
By that I mean strictly information. The contest is for everybody!
If someone with a green or 20g wins the only thing we require of
winner is a DYNO pull, and a night at the track. After that if they
want to sell the turbo, keep their old turbo, and pocket the cash that
is fine. We will also sponsor them with parts they need for 12 months at
our cost. This is also not a one company sponsored contest, but many working together, and would like to see everyone participate! So just
because they have a different turbo than yours does not mean they
suck. That's not true all turbo's suck, but they blow. Oh how they blow.

You list positives about internally gated systems and say you want the benefits, so collect info. If you have any specific questions about our turbo line please ask.
