Turbo Rebuild Balancing Question

Alright I am cleaning up my stock turbo and have done some porting to it. I had marked the wheels on the turbo, but the idiot that i am, cleaned them off in the cleaning process

Is there any factory alignment marks to line up the two wheels, or the shaft, nut, and wheel?

There arent any turbo shops around here, so therefore i cant send it somewhere to get it balanced.

How long can i expect the turbo to last if I just put everything back together minus the balacing?

Your input is appreciated, I dont want to toss alot of cash into this or send my turbo south.

Even taking a marker and drawing lines across the bolt on the compressor wheel is not a fool proof way of saying your turbo is "balanced"when you re assemble. It is just to get it close, but not perfect.

There is no substitute for having your turbo balanced.... And since the balancers cost from 7k to over 50k, you are right, not everyone has them

you need to have it balanced
if you pull a wheel off. you throw the balance of the wheels and shaft off.

something spinning at 100k rpms. if it comes apart it will eat your motor.

better safe then sorry
