1G BOV squeal

Hi guys:

I have a Galant VR4, and I'm running a crushed 1G BOV. Somehow this BOV would squeal ( sounds like brake squeal ) whenever I lift-off the throttle at low rpm. It is most noticeable when driving at low speed in a parking lot.

This weekend, a friend of mine lent me his non-crushed 1G BOV. With this BOV installed, the squeal was gone.

Has anyone else experience this squealing noise on a crushed 1G BOV ? BTW, my coworker's GVR4 also has this exact squealing noise from his crushed 1G BOV.

I'm trying to figure out what's causing the squeal. Can I fix my crushed BOV so that it doesn't squeal ?

It's typical for 1g bovs to "squeal" or wistle under vac, mine does it all the time at about 16 hg. I don't know why exactly, maybe some one else can enlighten you.

mine squeals too... i keep hearing its normal.. it sounds like a computerized beep.. at partial / low throttle. my friend had his head out the window cuz i busted ass in the car and i was going slow and he was like HOLY CRAP what's that beep. yeah.. the BOV is embarrasing.

First I've heard of a 1g bov squealing, I had one for over year crushed, as well as heard alot of dsm's with them, are you running them vented to the atmo?

crushed or uncrushed, doesnt matter. Some squeal some dont. Its the air running across that bleeder hole on the bottom side of the BOV making the noise. check out www.dejontool.com for a way to tap into the side of the bov, so that you can plug the hole on the bottom side (no more squeal). I believe VFAQ has a way to do it also.

Mine is vented back to the instake.
I'm going to try clearing up that bypass (?) 3mm holes at the bottom of BOV and see if that silents the squeal..

I've put up with that noise for so long now I don't even notice it, sooner or later you'll become adept enough at conrolling it that you can play it like an instrument.

mine does it when the rpms come down .it make a almost like beeping sound,i though it was coming from the intake untill i stuck my head right up to it.

Yeah mine has some sort of greddy type-s sound to it. When it blows off it sounds like a loud PFFFFFFFT then when the initial high pressure is blown off it has some sort of a whistle to it kinda like the type-s. When at part trottle i let go of the gas at like 1 psi it wistles and then like a second later it whistles again but it's faint and longer. Most ppl think it sounds cool, I don't i'm not a fan of whistling BOV's I like loud WHOOOSH like the blitz.
