my car is a 1997 eclipse gst and i have 77,250 miles. my compression is,120,125,95,120. i was wondering what would be better to do. buy the shortblock stage one 6 bolt motor from buschur and if i do that will i need to re-build the head on my motor now before i bolt everything up and what all will i need to bolt everything up and also will it have any affect with emissions or should i buy the 6 bolt motor from machv for $1,599? please help i have a t/3t4 turbo i want to put on but dont want to with the compression like it is. thanks

nobody can make your decision on which block to buy.. but the fact that your running low compression could be due to alot of different things like leakvy valves or headgasket both which have nothing to do with your block..

have you done the test and then added some oil to the cylinders that were low to see if it goes up to determine if its the rings or not?

i will try that but im just asking which do you huys would think would be a better deal

...cmon help me out...

You need to understand that people may not see, or respond to your thread 30 seconds after you posted it. When you come on to a forum and ask a question, wait until it is answered. When you come back in your own post, and say things like "come on, help me!" you sound like a pushy little kid, and are likely to get no responses. Just a tip.

What? Look at the times that he posted. The first one is @ 04:54 PM, the second @ 12:38 AM...

dsb97gst: I suggest you save your $$ and just get it rebuilt. On my talon, I spend $400 on getting the head rebuilt with a 3 angled valve job, (including cleaning, new "3rd gen" lifters, valve shimming...) and about $80 for new gaskets. That alone restored the compression in my 115K mile motor to 160 which is almost perfect for a 1G.

Have someone run a leak down test on your motor to see where exacly the leak is.

thanks g-ell anyways i got like sixty reviews before i got an answer and when im saying cmon i need help means i really need help im not trying to be pushy. thanks for the replys guys

The real question is, "What do you want to do w/ your car?" If you want a very reliable(as reliable as a DSM can be) then go w/ a 7 bolt rplacement, if you want it to last a little longer, go 6 bolt 1g big rods/95 pistons. Now if you have a secondary car that you like to drive, then build the motor!
