found a place here in town that sells it. wanna go buy about 15 gallons today to dump in my car before the races this weekend. figured i could get that much in and drive around a bit until it's time to race so i have time to tune with it. my tank will be about empy when i put it in there so yeah, it'll be almost straight 114 octane. not much mixing with the 93. is there any reason i shouldn't do this? should i get a lower octane? just wanna make sure before i go and get it. thanks!

Sorry: miss read that line

As long as you tune for it, get better timing ZERO knock and more boost- then yes it is worth it-

Is it leaded 114? I think that can mess up your cat or o2 sensor. Something like that.

if it is leaded then dont get it. it will gunk up your stuff. usually something that high is leaded. i would make sure though.

make sure its not leaded unless you have no cat then it doesnt matter. and tune properly for it depending on how much boost you run its worth it, especially on Race day =)

i wouldnt dump 15 gallons of leaded gas in anything...mix it with your 93...and if you have a cat, dont even buy it...you can usually get by running leaded fuel if you run a tank of unleaded GOOD gas afterwards to clean out your o2

i'll ask em if it's leaded or not before i get it. and nope, no cat but i still don't wanna run leaded in it. thanks guys!

I've probably had 200 gallons of C16 through my engine. Its leaded. No problems. Still on the same stock 02 sensor and its working fine.

I run pure 110 leaded sunoco during the summer racing season. Every year during this time I run near 100 gallons of leaded past the o2 senser without a drop of unleaded, and it still works fine to this day. Granted during this period of race gas useage it may start reading slower and won't cycle without some boost to heat it up. Even then it doesn't hurt full throttle performance. ;)

I used to run race gas regularly on the street until I started to have to pull and clean my o2 sensor on a regular basis. At that point I felt it was no longer worth it. That , and the rediculous price I was paying ! I found a place close to home that sells VP MS103. It's an unleaded gas with a motor octane rating of 99. Give it a try...your o2 sensor will love it !!

Nah it wont do anything except slowly kill your 02 sensor's reading ability.... This in fact only kills your MPG.... If you want economy then find some unleaded... If you want to Win buy leaded.... As stated earlier it doesnt effect WOT... ive used 110 for 2 summers now and i havent had a problem other than i go through gas like water... :thumb:

I usually fill up with a emtpy tank. I put 3 gallons of race gas in..and one gallon of 94. By the time I get to the track, its all mixed up and I'm down to about 2 gallons.

If you are worried about leaded gas killing your sensor. Spend the money and get a Denso o2 sensor :) They are the only sensor that is made to be run with leaded. That is why I bought mine hehe.

As long as you don't daily drive it around on the street. Leaded 114 is great, crank the boost up and run a nice low et. It takes a long time to hurt the o2 if you just pour the gas in when you go racing. Driving around the street is not helping anything so keep it at the track.

so anyway, i was rolling into town and stopped at a gas station to put maybe $5 in. then the rest was gonna be 114. these stupid kids (maybe about 14 or 15 years old) see my car and read my plates....EATS V8S. so one of em is like, i bet you can't smoke a mustang 5.0

anyway, i'm filling up while these stupid kids are trying to ask me all these questions. i know a guy who would race ya. he's got a V-twin. i'm like, a V-twin what? already knowing it's a motorcycle though. the stupid kid didn't even know what it was. "uh, i dunno. a V-twin. he talks about it all the time." anyway, go figure the stupid kids distract me and next thing i know i just put $20 worth of gas in my car. damn it!!! now i'm having to drive around all day so i can burn this crap up. guess i'll be tryin to get it tomorrow. sheesh!

LOL

im sure that there are plenty of punks driving around in honduhs with mufflers that would just love to smell that 114 burning while you blow em away :dsm: :laser: :talon: :thumb:

well i finally got it in today. filled up the whole tank. only cost me $75. now knowing my luck the track will be closed this weekend cause it's been raining.

anyway, the car runs good at wot so i turned up the boost to 25 psi with no knock at wot. totally annihilated a few cars today. one was a modded chevy blazer with the msd stickers and stuff, big ole tach, big fat tires, and sounded pretty mean. he got roasted though.

but lemme get to my point. when i'm at wot, there's no knock at all and pulls really really hard. at about 45-50 miles an hour i dropped it into second and it pulled the car a lil sideways. but at a steady cruising speed and at part throttle, it'll knock at like 30-43 counts "steady" and the timing drops down to 5 and the car just wants to fall on it's face. could this be because the fuel isn't wanting to fire off? could it just be phantom knock and it's affecting the timing? bad knock sensor? it just started doing this after adding the fuel. once i romp on it, it's fine.

I would be a little worried about the partial throttle knock that you are getting. My guess is that it is a vacuum leak or phantom knock like you pointed out. Being that you have a 93 (you all know what assuming does), I bet it is a vacuum leak; you will get crazy knock at low to mid throttle but will disappear at WOT.

i filled up because cause for one i wanna tune it before race day. and i'll be doing a lotta driving before then as well. by the time race day comes i'll be down to 1/4 of a tank.

and as for the vacuum leak, well.....i have no emissions. and it started doin this as soon as i threw the stuff in.

knock like that would be a pretty big concern of mine... you gotta remember that higher octane fuel is harder for the engine to burn, so i would look at getting new plugs and wires. also, was this leaded or unleaded?
