What assembly lube did everyone use?

To all the engine builders. Did you guys use regular engine oil, moly paste, arp head stud lube, or the red oil like lube when assembling your bottem ends?

For the most part, I used engine oil.

I use Lubriplate is a white tube with blue letters, it work great

I used Redline assembly lude for all even the ARP studs.

I went to pep boys and they sold stuff called " assembly lube " .. it was in a black / white tube and worked just fine. It was like $5.

I used the thick black moly lube, like the ARP stuff on the bearings and pre-lubed the pistons/rings/bores with ATF, Dextron III Per my machinist.

i used STP that really sticky oil treatment. On all my bearings but arp moly lube on all my studs.

One more thing. What does everybody think about just using engine oil?

I actually use synthetic grease on the motor and once the motor is fully assembled I prime the whole motor with a drill on the oil pump before attaching the timing belt. Then once the car is together I crank it over for about 20 seconds before I fire it up.

I used the red oil and mtoor oil before when doing rod bearings and such and it is sooo messy compared to grease and as long as you prime the motor before firing I see no prob with using the grease. I have been told however it is not good to assemble turbos with grease though.

I would go with the red line assembly lube. Use ARP moly on the rod and head bolts and pack the oil pump with vasoline. I dont like to use grease in a motor because it its to thick and clogs the oil filter. You can also use the regular lucus oil treatment right out of the bottle. Its nice and thick and wont drain off.
