i drove my car in the snow for the first time last night. damn i dont know if i like AWD or not i couldnt do doughnuts cuz it hooked to damn well But after about an hour and half of driving and racing jeeps and trucks in a 1/4 mile blast(i won everytime somehow and they had air lockers front and rear) the turbo wouldnt build boost anymore if i was spinning on the snow. I went on what pavment i could find and it would build boost. I am assuming that spinning in the snow isnt enough load to make it spool??? but it was spooling all the time for the first 1.5 hours. then my radar detector starts going off saying low voltage. this alt is about 3 weeks old and is the high amp one. I got this one when the one before it was about 2 months old died. and the one before that was fine till i put in this new ECU....3 alts in like 4 months???? the belt is still on and all the connectors are tight. the voltage jumps up when i rev so i know it is seeing some charge but its only charging at 10.8 and when the night started it was 14.2-13.9. is there a chance its the ECU eating them up or am i just unlucky with the f********* alts?

If u stick a voltometer to the batterie while the car is running it should read anywhere from 13-15 volts with or with out load, below 13 the alt is not charging enough, above 15 its charging to much may be harmful to batterie, just to let u know do the check to test ur alt. but the 10.8 volts is way low, like ur running off pure bat. my car yesterday started acting funny, i thought it was ecu, checked alt wasnt working, got half thru taking it off remembered theres a fuse for it, the fuse wa bad.

Yeah i was a mechanic for ford for 4 years till i got tired of busting my knuckles wide open and i was moving anyway. i know how to test all that and i have done it. it is still charging but at a low rate cuz when i rev it jumps up .5 volts then goes back to the 10.8 or whatever. but its the third alt in like 4 months and i have no amps or anything to drian the hell out of it. the only thing i have done is switch in a new ecu
