today is a happy day
water injection with a .8 jet

race gas

datalogger

21 psi

wowies

i must say i was a little apprehensive at first but seeing the logs i took with it. 0 knock at 19-22 psi.
all the way up to middle of 5th gear

i must say this was a very good investment

i guess i have to update my mods list now

thought id share in the fun

Yes Im very interested in trying out water injection. What kit did you get and how much was everything. have you tried it with pump gas yet? Im curious what youd be ready to do with some pump...

race gas was 110 octane.
pump is a shur-flo 100 psi pump. using the stock windshield resivoir as a supply, spraying windshield washer fluid in motor.

its a aquamist solenoid and jet which is a .8 jet size.

pump gas around here sucks ass severly. im not on pump gas. the most i can run on it is 16 psi. im trying to stay under 5 on the knock sum. it does stay under 5, well actually 0 till about 5k rpms then jumps to 10. then i let off. im going to double check my fittings and everything tomorrow. and recheck the pump and everything to see if it is still working. keep in mind its somewhere around 40 degrees now. intake temps hover around 68-73 degrees. 17 degrees of timing at wot.

the 23 psi was nuts. torque steering and tires screechin for traction in second gear. {like my old eclipse did}

im guessing. ones i get it all worked out i should be around 17 psi on pump gas. stock pump for a week or so till i get the 190 in.

the kit itself is not that much. a local guy here is a authorized dealer of aquamist. the pump was 90. fittings for the pump 3 bucks. line 10 bucks i believe.
for a grand total "new" is somewhere around 200.
i paid 100 bucks for a used kit with a new pump and a spare 60 psi pump.

i believe the kit new comes with everything you need.

so far im throughly impressed with this setup

i just have to figure out my high end knock and why its suddenly doing it. maybe gas really does suck this bad here.

if there is anything else i can think of about this kit i'll reply later on

pump gas, keeping the knock at 2 at 5500 rpms
16 psi

not bad for extremely crappy gas.

we'll see what i can do with a bigger pump in a couple weeks

You're not actually using windshield wiper fluid are you?

Nonetheless, sounds promising.

BTW, who was using the propane injection? Any reports on that kit?

actually yes i am spraying windshiled washer fluid
water/methonal/blue dye. thats all it is

if it was harmful as it is set up right now. i would have popped it at 23 psi.

i was told to run this type of fluid in the winter because
a. it doesn't freeze

in the summer im going to run distilled water with a bit of denatured alcohol {GN style man}

need to do some more tuning and such
a more in dempth report to come later this week

MY best freind is a aquamist dealer georges imports sells it let me know if you need any help on your kit my buddy owns a badass saab running aquamist!

How much can he get me one of those setups for? I dont feel like piecing everything together.

cheap we do alot of group buys! let me talk to him and get regular prices and ill ask if he wants to do another roup buy! ill let you know

I know a bunch of guys running the washer fluid on various turbo cars. They can run pump gas (93 octane) and spray washer fluid all the time and it's like running race gas all the time but cheap. Lots of info on the web. Search for alcohol or water injection.

Oh, so this is your secret weapon huh Bryan........decided against the propane? I decided to just sell the damn car (figured it would come to that since I have 3 more cars to play with). Never did finish the propane install on the DSM but will be installing it on a different car. Sounds like you have the right idea with the distilled and alcohol mix (keyword being 'MIX') don't want the pump to take a crap on ya. :thumb:

seeing as how race gas and water injection lets you run higher boost in general. it does not take the place of race gas. propane does that to a certain degree. water does not.

then again i have not run a mix through it yet to see a difference. maybe there is, but its too cold here to find out

twitch. it is the same kit he sells but with and upgraded 100 psi pump, i have a 60 psi pump in the garage that works fine.

water injection. it injects water into the intake manifold, thus goign through the motor

don't freak yet, it gets funkier

now the basics

there is a resivoir, a pump, line, a solenoid, hobbs switch, and a jet

very similar to a nitrous kit. but in a big way different

in my set up, when it hits 8 psi, it clicks the hobbs switch which turns the pump on and clicks open the solenoid. thus injecting water.

in "theory" it is supposed to supress knock, give you ability to run higher boost because of this.

but as im finding out. the car wasn't ready for it just yet. its fun, im getting full timing on pump piss and 16 psi no matter what gear im in. 22 psi on 110 octane and 17 degrees of timing. no knock all the way up because of the water injection

but don't think you can run 22 psi and be fine, i wouldn't try this with out a logger. it takes some time and a lot of runs to get everything set right

im still tweaking on the car

If you use the 'mix' makes sure you use the cheap 50/50 methanol/ di H20...none of that de-icer stuff or the stuff with ammonia in it...
