I am getting a new turbo but don't know what to get yet. I was thinking a 14b since i have some $ problems but then i got some cash for TD05 big 16G. so what would you guys get?

If you can vote in the pool and tell me why u voted for that i would really apriciated. basicly i am runing very little mods so far. and i need a reliable car. Check my profile for mods.

Thanks

considered the evo3 16g? im not sure how the prices differ. between a b16g and an evo3, but I think the evo3 is a better choice, check out SlowBoy Racing's old site, they have a great comparision.

money owns us all,buy what you can afford.

what do you mean by port and polish? like polish the compressor housing, or the actual porting job? cause the porting job should look pretty nice and smooth anyway.

clipping - why are you clipping a 16G?

porting/34mm flapper - :thumb:

14b + DIY 2g install kit = 200
evo 3 16G + DIY kit = 620 [extremepsi.com] + 50 install kit, 670
evo 3 16G + premade kit = 820

mind as well do some research on the to4b from bullseye. i'd probably have bought that over the e316G had it been out when i did. apparently it flows 58 lbs/min.

Id definatley recomend the b16g as I had it ported clipped and upgraded wastegate on my old gst and the thing pulled like a raped ape. But now with this new fangled evo3 16g Id go with that...same price if not cheaper then a dinosaur b16g and flows the same but is ALOT more efficent meaning itll make a little more power. If the e316g was around back when I bought my old b16g I would have gotten that instead.

If the situation is like you said, I wouldnt recomend either turbo. I would say sepnd less money on supporting mods and save....dont blow all your money on a turbo your engine cant support correctly. Only get a unsipported turbo if your stocker has blown...otherwise get the support first, follow the tunning guide as it will help...hell I did to a "t" and was VERY satisfied with the out come. trust me the money will be better spent elswhere at this point.

Well here is a full Story.

I got a Turbo form EastCoastturbos.com about 6 months ago when i just got my eclipse. It was t25 w/12 months worranty. I blew one in about 3 months and got a worranty replacement. that was 3 months ago. couple days ago i blew it again. So I called them and they told me that i can upgrade it to

TD05 Evo III turbo ported for $50 Cliped for $30 and 34mm wastegate for $20
so basicly

The turbo is $570+$50+$30+$20=$670 plus installetion kit $870 (will get some discout sice did bissnes with them before)

i will spend $870 shiped - $450 for the t25 that they will subtract since its still under woranty. so i will end up paying about $420 :thumb: for this upgrade.

Or i can get a 14b for about $200 w/evrything you need to install it.

so i don't really know what should i get. One voice says to me spend the extra $220 and get that or go back to small turbo  .

see, now it's a different story. but for $420 bucks for everything, i'd go with that route. :thumb:

ok the cats out of the bag...I would agree get the evo for $420, and get all the options you listed.

dont even waste your money on a turbo right now...would be wasting your money and time, trust me...i bought a big 16g because i got a good deal on it and i had the exact same mods that you had and it has just been hell ever since, i have been having boost creep problems and stuff...i mean at the time i was still learing about my car, but i wish i just maxed out my stock turbo...TRUST me, go buy yourself an intake and intercooler piping with the money...you will be alot happier, just my opinion

Yeah that was my next goal till i blew the turbo. I am driving right now on the blown turbo and I promissed myself it that **it happens again i eather will bet 14b or somthing big.

But that besides the point. Lets just say you buying them at a regular price withc would you guys upgreade it to. I need it to be relaible and somthing that can have power to. (kind of new to DSM's) even tho i had my car for over 6 months now.

driving around with a blown turbo no matter what is blown with it is VERY VERY BAD! park your car ASAP, and wait for the new turbo.

I'd go with the evo for that price. Hell you already got exhaust, just get yourself the small things needed and your set.

Right....

You can drive your car around as long as you'd like, just watch your oil pressure/dipstick and don't go WOT.

Aside from those two factors you'll be fine.

Well I finally orderd the turbo today. I went w/Evo III turbo. I hope i won't blow this one anytime soon

I Know this guy "Adam" Clouse by my house (25mil)That will install it for me for $200. He owns a DSM shop so i am not worry abut that. Buth thanks alot tho.
