garrett t-3 on 2g questions

i know its probley been asked a few times before but the search function won't let me search "t3" because its only 2 words. anyways, i can get a t3 turbo from a freind in mint condition for free. i have no idea on the exact specs on it (a/r, etc). i'm looking to find out how the t3 compares to other upgraded turbos on the market. the car is a 2g talon compleatly stock at the moment. i need to know what to expect from the turbo so i can plan my supporting mods accordingly. installing it won't be a problem, we will most likely be building a custom equal length tubular header for it. how does the t3 compare in size to the 14b, small and big 16g and t28. where does it fit in? is it a good turbo to use (considering the price)? we are looking to make at least 300hp with the car but not more than 400. thanks in advance for any help!
 
Without knowing the exact specs (compressor wheel, turbine wheel, turbine A/R) there is no way to know. The largest t3 compressor wheel is the super 60 and that wheel is the equivalant to a 16G compressor. A T3 super 60 in a .63 A/R turbine housing makes for a very good street turbo and has gone low/mid 12's on a friends 2G. Anything less is kind of a waste of effort.
 
cool, thats exactly the info i was looking for. thanks! is there any way to find out what t3 it is by looking at it? maby i should just put it on and see what happens... either way it has to be better than the stock t25 right?

i was thinking the t3, manual bc, 1g bov, 2.5" custom built mandrel exhaust with no cat, bomz muffler, 2.5" custom mandrel bent ic pipe, big fmic, rewired and replaced fuel pump, and act clutch. in total i would probley have under $700 invested (plus alot of time) and a quick streetable car. not looking for anything crazy just somewhat fast.
