Cochrane,
hey guys, i have a 96 talon tsi awd with the seven bolt bottom end, i have a block and crank out of a 92 tsi awd 6 bolt. i have the 92 block becasue i was told they were much better blocks than the 2g blocks, i was just going to rebuild that but i found out the the huyndi 2.4 crank will drop right in. how can i get 2.4 liters into that 1g 6 bolt block? i want to run eagle rods and weisco piston, help ios appericated, thanx guys

there are several ways of doing this. Oh and you can use early galant 2.4 cranks as well I forgot what years but they work too. So heres the deal, if you just throw the 2.4 crank into the 2.0 block you will end up with a 2.3L stroker...well 2.387L. This is the easiest way to go about it, just buy the rods and pistons for a regular 2.0L 4g63 and use the 2.4 crank. You could also bore our the block slightly get custom pistons and use the 2.4 crank to get a 2.4L. Another choice you have it to get a hyundia 2.5L crank and use the mitsu 2.0L block this will get you a slightly larger than 2.4 engine but you are going to possibly run into some issues with clearances and what not.

weisco makes the stroker pitsons with the moved wristpin and what not, crank drops into block but has some clearance issues with the 1 gen block. easy to fix but none the less issues. the rods from any talon will work. i only have 1 more question, will a lightweight talon flywheel bolt up and is the front of the crank different. thrust washers ect. what is needed to install hte crank?

to get the full 2.4 liters out of the engine you have to bore from 85 mm, (stock) to 87 mm. now i am not a machine shop guy buy is there really enough meat in the block for the extra 2 mm? there is only lik 7mm inbetween the cylinders now!?

I got a set of Wiseco pistons which is .20 inch over+eagle connecting rod+4g64 crank with Mitsubishi MLS gaskit the reason I did't over bore because I've read I have to change my head gaskit to comtic head gaskit for over bore.

What is my liter gonna be with my stuff?
Slowboyracing told me it should be like 2.38 liter but I read in the forum it should be 2.32 liter, how can I tell I have the correct liter, I started my car with stroker today and I have a drag season in two days, hope I break my old time with DSM link

Thanks

I was reading the post and I am very interested in the 2.3 stroker but what I want to know is the pistons I can by can be wiseco standard bore, any rods I want, and the 2.4 crank out of a hyunda. Thats it? I wouldn't need to bore out anything? This will all work well in a stock, 2.0 block and head?

so far i have found out that the 2.4 crank out of the huyndai is a drop in on the 2g and on the 1g there are some clearence issues, but they are very easy to fix. the rods are any 4g63 standard rods, but on the 2g ou need to get a 1g oil pan, and even still the 1g oil pan still need "massaging" to get it to rotate freely. you also have to make sure you get the right pistons with the moved wristpin holes, weisco makes them, i am sure there are more companys out there buy they are for sure. i am still trying to find out if the block will take a 2mm oversize but i think that i will just go .020 over and not worry about the extra 40 cc or so. and as far as i have found out. the huyndai crank will bolt to all your oem talon stuff. i will post more when i get the rest on the information in regeards to this build up.

i dont think that i am going to bore the block out to the full 87mm because this will be a hight boost engine and i dont want overheating issiues. yes it bolts in and up to everythig in you car. the best bet to find pistons is to call either ross or weisco and tell them what your doing. i think weisco makes a .20 stroker piston which is probally what i will run, but i am not sure. you need to get some parts now. i have no idea why you need these but i am assuming it is to fix a crearance issue, a 4g64 intake cam, 4g64 timing belt, and you have to make sure if you do bore to get the proper hole in you head gasket. i found a awsome website for the buildup in a 1g. as i said the 2g is a drop in, i am not sure about the cam though. 90% of this info if for the 1g block

have fun ladies

If you want to drop a 2.4L crank into a 4G63 just make sure you mate the correct crank with the correct block, because there are 2.4L 6 and 7 bolt cranks. (FYI- my 2.4L 6 bolt crank came out of a '91 Hyundai Sonata- engine is actually known as G4CS)

tru man and thanks for mentioning that, i have found out the rest of my info, some of what i have posted here is wrong, this is the final info on the stroker motor and to the BEST of my knowlage it is right.

the first gen - crank drops in, make sure the crank is a 6 bolt, oil pan needs to be modified to clear the con. rods, a little bit of the block has to be ground away to clear the con. rods (easy to do, dremel all the way!), rods are standard 4g63 rods (no bigge there), pistons, you just have to make sure that the wristpin holes are in the right place for the stroker (contact manufacturer of the pistons and tell them what you are doing, they will know what you need, ross, weisco are some examples), if you choose to bore up to 87mm ensure you use a bigger head gasket.

thats it

the second gen - crank drops in, make sure it is a 7 bolt, you need a 1st gen oil pan and it has to be modified as stated above, no block cleacering that i know of but it is easy to deal with, all the rest is the same as above

the stuff about the cams i posted was bullshit somone told me the wrong stuff, so there you go, STROKE IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS IS ONLY INFO FOR THE 2.4 IN THE 4G63 BLOCK ONLY USING THE 91 2.4 CRANK OUT OF A SONATA

any questions post them up and i will try and found out what you need to know

STROKE IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumb:
