Well Ive put off buying this for the longest time becuase of certain things... First off, I have moderate soldering skills as i have done it before but it did not look professional by any means.... I want to know how hard is it to solder the New Socket onto the ECU??? I know Dsmlink.com says "if you are unsure chances are you will need to send it to them" But i just want to know if it will be worth my time to do it myself and save a few dollars, or Ship it off to them to have them do it.... Has anyone soldered it themselves??? Was it easy or was is it better to have them do it???? PLease let me know otherwise ill order it today if i dont have to rip out my ecu all over again hehe.....

Ask a TV repair guy if he can solder it for you. These guys do this for a living so soldering is just easy as pie. I would not chance it, heat can easily kill chips. Besides, tv repairmen have the equipment (cooler temp soldering irons, heatsinks, etc) to better do the job.

I'd just send it to them. The turn around time is pretty fast and it isnt' that much money to know it is done right.

I would have to agree with everyone. I had an engineer at work socket my ecu and it took him a while. You can pull the solder pads off if you use a solder sucker and thats very bad. Also the solder is on both sides of the board making it more difficult to remove.

I would just send it to them unless you know someone who has the skills and is confident in getting it done without damaging your ecu

nice looking car Stoner :thumb: I looks really good without a wing.

Ha, Thanks but I just ordered a stock 2g eclipse wing for it. I have been staring at it for months trying to decide which way to go and I decided to go with a stock turbo wing. The car looks good from that angle without one but from the front angle or rear angle I think it needs something.

Hey i whould sent it to dsmlink or sent it to john at www.jestrtuning.com he is the best. I watch him socket mines and also chance the caps. And it took him over a hour . And it look like alot of work. Why take a chance an damage to ecu. To save a few dollars. Just my .02 cent. thanks oj

what is involved in putting a 2g elcipse turbo wing on a 2g talon?

Take off talon wing, fill the holes, buy an eclipse wing, drill new holes, and bolt it on.

Pretty simple

Why send it to someone else when you could just send it straight to the guys at DSMLink. Believe me, they know what they are doing. By sending it somewhere else before hand you are only delaying the turn around time.
