hi, i was wondering what the pros and cons of a 1g head, 1g intake manifold (ported) and 60 mm throttle body are on a 2g block. a guy was telling me that it is bad, personally i don't know and would like to get your opinion on it all. how much hp do you think i would gain from it at all??? thanks

also, in your opinion how much hp do you think a 2g with the above mods, a 14b turbo at 15 psi, intake, balance shafts removed, ic pipes, supra smic, walbro 190lph fuel pump and 3 inch downpipe back exhaust would make, what times (estimate please). i want to get a rough idea of what my setup will make after the winter when it's all done. thanks for your help in advance.

No one can tell you how much HP your going to make w/ the above stated listed parts and what times. What you need to do is look at the timeslips forum and find owners with similar setups and go from there. There are sooooooo many setup and tuning variables it sick.

And god use the search engine there are so many threads on the difference between 1g and 2g heads just start reading. For your setup (14b) the 2g man./head setup are fine and have been stated to flow about the same they just hit there torque/hp peaks at differrent points in the rpm's. The 1g (91-94) TB is worth the upgrade though, better throttle responce.

I did the swap on my old engine ... didn't notice a whole lot of power increase if any. The cams are an upgrade and the throttle body is as well though but be sure to portmatch your intake manifold.

I personally just decided on not doing this mod. I am waiting till next year to have my 2g massaged and ported. It has smaller ports but the port shape and angle into the head is better IMHO. For example ExtremeMotorsports is currently selling a race head package that is from a 2g core.....and they know what they are doing.

Oh and for the record don't even think of putting a 1G manifold on a 2G head. It would mean you'd have to lower the 2G port about 4-5 mm's. Which is not a good idea.

This is what a 1G intake manifold gasket looks like on a 2G head ...not too good.
