Is it safe to put on a cat back exhaust system with out a boost controller? I still have the stock cat on the car. I don’t know if it will raise my boost. If it does raise boost levels does any one know how high it will raise it?

Only if your exhaust is the reason that the boost is limited. ie. the turbo is so choked off that it can't spin any faster do to the force needed to push the exhaust gasses out is equivalent to that pushing on the ex. mani. side. I don't expect this to be the case until somewhere around 23-25 psi, not stock though. Your boost will be limited by the factory controller, if the other situation were the case, some engineers should've been tarred and feathered for such a horribly inefficient design on the exhaust

Thank you very much for all the feed back. i am going to go home and put on the exhaust tonight.

If u change exhaust or intake u will gain 1-2 pounds boost. I dont know where the rest of u learn your info but this is common knowledge to anyone with at least a little expierience with a Turbo DSM.

I put a 2.5" cat-back and test pipe on with my k&n cone and boost stayed @ 9 psi in first and 11psi in the other gears...exactly like it was before changing those.

The only thing i am really concerned about is will my boost spike high enough to due any damage? so far all i have is the free mods and the cat back exhaust. Should i wait and put on the cat back once i get my boost controller and gage?

I am getting a mbc and gage on the 1st of november. i just don't want to ruin my motor becouse i wanted to exhaust one right now.

You will be fine, it may raise your boost a psi or 2, but not enough to harm anything. But your next investment needs to be a boost gauge!

In regards to the boost gauge, what company makes the most accurate aftermarket gauge with a psi readout instead of BAR?

what is the stock psi settings for a 1g gsx/tsi? i have heard some people say it is 7psi and i have heard some say it is 11psi. i know that it is safe to go up to 15psi with a rewired fuel pump. Is it easy to put the exhaust on? i have a 2.5 inch hooker cat back system. I think i got a good deal on it i paid 150 for it.
