im going to be doing a 6 bolt swap on my 97 gst here shortly id like to avoid the cas wiring and cel probs associated with the swap ive read my 97 cas will bolt to the 1g head i feel like if theres anyway i could bolt my 97 crank sensor to the 1g block i would be free and clear maybe the front cases are even interchangable, any thoughts ?

You could try going to a local Hyundai dealer and ask for a 1996 Sonata 2.0 timing cover. They still used 6 bolts in 1996 and they were OBD-II so they had crank sensors. You would need the timing cover and trigger plate and you could reuse you crank sensor.

I do not have first hand experience on doing this. The information is highly accurate as far as I know.

the timing covers no prob its plastic i can cut a hole in it or something and as far as i know the trigger plate should slide over the crank snout like it is i think my only prob is figuring out how to mount the sensor i doubt if there are already mounting holes there for it im not that lucky but does anyone know of the diffs between a 7 bolt oil pump and a 6 bolt

i guess ill tear the front case off my parts car and make a comparison of the two though knowing my luck they probly dont interchange
